Great
CChris J HornWhat an amazing hidden gem this is. Nestled on a hill top overlooking the marshes with Warehorn church over the road, this pub with rooms is a must for a romantic get away.
We arrived early and had a drink in the bar, which is beautifully quirky, a welcoming log fire burning and a wide selection of drinks.
We had booked ”Niddy” an attic room with so much to give, a comfy bed, roll top bath, and so much character.
The only ****** I had with the room, was the W.C squeezed into the roof space it was a little awkward to stand up and wee, but that's a small thing when it comes to such a great room.
Requesting a quiet table for dinner, we were given one in a side area and again we couldn't believe it, it was super romantic and we had the whole room to ourselves. Our waiter Muli was so good, he was attentive but not intruding, and so funny, we haven't had many meals out and he really did make the evening.
The food was excellent and the vegan burger was one of the best I have had.
The location was brilliant, if you're into walking, cycling, birdwatching or wanting to visit local sites (rye was only 20min drive away)
The rest of the staff were also brilliant, and couldn't do enough for us.
We will definitely return.
GGuest UserI booked and paid via Trip.com back in March 2026, however when we came to check-in, the receptionist told me that I had not paid? To avoid any embarrassment, I offered my card detaiks again. When I returned home, I checked my bank statement and that I had Indeed paid in full back in March 26, so I contacted the hotel and was refunded. Trip.com charged me £125 but the rate the hotel charged me on the day was only £107. I’m confused as to why it was cheaper to pay on arrival?
The hotel was very average. It needs a lot of work to bring it up-to-date. This could be an amazing venue but the owners have unfortunately just let it run to the ground. Shame as it’s a great location and has fantastic potential Bed’s were comfortable but the cheap room fans were in effective in this heat.
RRatanraj RaiOverall average experience. The bathroom condition was not very good and the cleanliness. See the attached pictures. No WiFi service. Not value for the money. Amenities were not very good.
On average staff were helpful apart from some of them.
GGuest UserFantastic service. Quaint rooms, comfortable beds and great breakfast. Owners went out of their way to get vegetarian alternatives, and were generally very welcoming and friendly. Affordable and close proximity to Canterbury City, would 100% recommend to everyone. Also a gorgeous dog on site!
