AAncientBackpackKetapang Indah Hotel was very well located for me - it was a short drive from the Ketapang railway station and the ferry port to Bali. I was very impressed with the grounds, which are very well maintained and presented. It has a lovely outlook over the strait towards Bali. I had a hotel room, but there are larger villas available. The hotel room was a little bit small, but was fine for my purposes. Perhaps it is slightly dated, but the bed was comfortable. I had a great time in the pool, which was large and clean. The restaurant was strange - I'd say 80% of the guests were local Indonesians, but 80% of the evening guests were Westerners! I asked where the locals had their dinner and apparently they go to the warungs out on the road. Anyhow, the food I had over 2 nights was fine and the service very friendly. Breakfast is extensive. I would stay there again, mostly for its accessible location.

MMy TravelworldOuf, what a hidden gem! The bungalows at Purwa Ijen are top-notch, offering an amazing value for money. It is located in a super authentic, small and peaceful village with beautiful views and lush vegetation (besides all the rice fields). Our highlight was the breakfast, where we got the best smoothie bowl on our whole trip through Indonesia. The Ijen tour (500K) was also an unbeatable price. Transfer to the Bali ferry for 200K was also affordable. We especially loved the spacious bathroom and the comfy terrace with jungle and ricefield view. IMHO Purwa Ijen is one of the best value accommodation you can find in the Ijen area, highly recommended. WiFi also worked like a breeze.

GGuest UserDelicious Indonesian Javanese food specially created by the host, May, as well as the level of dedicated service is the highlight of this hotel. The menu food sounds unappealing, but all 7 lunch and dinners were so good. You have to try the chicken satay, which is soft and has white clean meat. The tuna is melted and panini is so fresh. The spaghetti cakalang is her created recipe of smoked fish and spaghetti. Her tofu and Tempe must not be missed! Her tempong chicken is yummy and fresh! Feels like it's directly from the farm. Nasi goreng must not be missed! Papayas seem to be in the season. Fried bananas covered in coconut flakes are not to be missed! In this hotel, don't expect luxury cleanliness because there are a lot of insects (bees, butterflies, moths, grasshopper, flies), spiders, millipedes, lizards, even a gecko. If you want to stay in this rustic resort you have to be okay with them. I didn't like the insects stuff in the room but the hosts immediately sent their staff to deal with them. Staff are friendly just be patient with them because not all speak English. May was a super host, who gave ALL sorts of ideas on where to go, and how to go, and gives you contacts and numbers and details. Ibnu makes the best dirty latte in Banyuwangi, most probably. The hosts are very nice and go out of the way to make their guests welcome. They even dropped us at a nearby tour site, and also gave us a short walk to the beach nearby. This level of service is almost unbeatable. Staff are always ready and welcome to greet and smile at you. I think the Indonesian and Javanese meals are better than the breakfast menu. Breakfast pancake and American breakfast normal only. They generously dropped us off at Bangsring Underwater which was 3-5 mins away, which MUST NOT BE MISSED for snorkelling beginners! (But first check out if the season is good for snorkelling) If you stay here, be prepared there's not much in the area. And not much air-conditioned cafes or restaurant or shops nearby too. The family room has a breathtaking view of the mountains but because of the attic like structure, is prone to insects and lizards and stuff. It had a resident gecko. The deluxe suite room had a flat ceiling so lesser insects! + huge verandah for drying your clothes + pink bougainvillea. There are corn fields beside the hotel. They send food to your room if you don't want to eat in the restaurant which also has a amazing view. Restaurant has rustic vibes with antique candelabras (+ spiders).

GGuest UserVery beautiful hotel, amazing territory, atmosphere, food is super, everything is very cool, but there is one BUT - now it is the month of Ramadan and no one warned us about the sounds from three o'clock in the morning🥲 it was very audible, even with earplugs. Naturally, we did not get enough sleep and did not rest after the volcano..

AAnonymous UserThe hotel is conveniently located near Kalibaru Station, providing easy access to Ketapang (for Bali) and Banyuwangi city (for the Ijen tour), just an hour by train. The hotel features its own dairy farm with fresh milk, and offers activities like spice and coffee plantation tours. For adventure seekers, the basecamp of Mount Raung is only 20 minutes away by car, with a hike that takes at least two days and one night. The swimming pool is large and clean, and the garden is well-maintained. The hotel has a good restaurant offering a variety of Indonesian and Western dishes. Wi-Fi is reliable, though the TV had no signal, and there was a brief power outage, quickly resolved with a backup generator. The staff are friendly and helpful.

IIvan PranovichOne of surf camps located near G land surf spot. Recently renovated and looks nice. If you need internet for work G Land area is not good. In all surf camps nearby and wifi for video calling or stable sockets. Mobile network is the same. Closest village with good internet is located in 1 hour road from g land. We left this place 1 day before than our booking is expired because of bad internet. If you on your own transport you have to show your reservation in alas purwo national park. Otherwise it’s forbidden to enter park on your own transport. The food is good for surfers. You accumulate it during your stay and pay at the end. The dormitory room looks simple and clean (you have to go to toilet outside in 30 seconds). There are loads of monkeys in the area: be careful during your breakfast, they could easily catch your milkshake or so. Staff spend some time to deal with monkeys. They have transfer with boat to surf spots. If you want to paddle in beach is just 100 meters away. Many animals are nearby: I saw deers, boars, monkeys. There are some gossips about tigers.
