Amazing
GGuest UserThis really is a 10/10 place. My husband and my favourite place we’ve stayed, this trip to Thailand. We’ve already decided we want to come back, with friends, next time.
We wanted a place to cut our drive to Bangkok and had no idea Sarat Thani and the surrounding area had so much to offer.
Mr. Pongsak, the owner, could not be more lovely. He is so thoughtful and invested in making sure everyone who stays has the best experience and shares his knowledge of the area and all the things there are to do and see.
We drove a rented car, and found it sooooo peaceful and relaxing to be there. And so close to get to town, markets and lots of yummy foods.
We cannot wait to share this gem with friends and try the other cabins. The pond with all its fish is a gorgeous water feature too.
They opened in 2025 and are building a third cabin. They are modern and still so charming and relaxing.
Cannot wait til we can return on our next trip.
My only concern is that it is such a great spot and is going to be so popular, we will need to book well in advance next time!
Thank you for everything. See you next time, Mr. Pongsak and family.
CCapt,JomThe rooms are comfortable and quiet. Convenient parking. Easy to find things to eat. Near the Diamond Market. There is a car service to the parking lot.
AAlex 70Our family stayed at this hotel for one night on our way from Koh Samui to Bangkok. We really liked the hotel. The staff were very friendly. We were checked into a standard room on the first floor. It seemed to have been recently renovated. The room was clean and comfortable. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and we could easily adjust the temperature settings. The plumbing fixtures were new. The hotel has its own large parking lot. There's also a swimming pool at the hotel shaded by trees, but we chose to swim at the neighboring 'Rice Farm' hotel instead. Their pool was well-warmed by the sun, and we could sunbathe while enjoying views of the rice fields. Both hotels share the same owner. We were pleased with the low price for a good stay, and breakfast (Thai or American) was included. Across the road from the hotel is a large Tesco Lotus shopping center, and a 7-Eleven is just a 10-minute walk away. We had dinner at a roadside cafe, which served delicious and inexpensive dishes. Overall, we really liked the hotel and recommend it for a stopover before an early morning flight from Surat Thani to Bangkok.
GGuest UserI spent my last 8 nights in Thailand in the Regent Hotel as I just wanted to chillax after 2 months travelling! I loved my time there. The staff are extremely helpful and Google translate is great for communication. My room was HUGE! The Air Con was excellent (Rm304)! The bathroom had a wall separating the toilet from the shower and that was great! The electric shower was perfect. The cleaning staff work hard. The gardener is constantly on the go and keeps the outside area spotlessly clean. Well done to him. The wardrobe space was super and storeage was great also. My only complaint (and that’s for every hotel room in Thailand) is the lack of double glazing to keep out the noise from the main rosd traffic. Otherwise everything was great in the hotel Thank you.
LlaosnewhorizonsA Fading Gem with a Fantastic Breakfast
The Wang Tai Hotel feels like a grand dame from a bygone era. Walking into the lobby, you can see it was once a truly luxurious place, and that sense of scale and history is still there. However, it's clear the hotel is in need of a bit of a makeover. While everything is clean, the decor and some furnishings feel a little tired and dated.
That minor point aside, our stay was very pleasant. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, always going out of their way to assist us.
The breakfast, however, was a wonderful and unexpected highlight! Instead of a standard buffet, it's ordered a la carte from a menu. Don't let that worry you the range is huge, covering both Thai and Western options. Everything we ordered was freshly cooked and absolutely delicious. It felt more like a restaurant experience than a hotel breakfast.
The large swimming pool is a major plus – perfect for a refreshing dip and lounging in the sun. The location is also very good, making it a convenient base for exploring Surat Thani.
In summary, if you can look past the slightly worn edges, The Wang Tai Hotel offers incredible value, spearheaded by a stellar breakfast, great pool, and excellent service. A little refurbishment would easily make this a 5-star experience again.
GGuest UserFor the money we paid we got what we got. It is an old hotel, but it was clean. Unfortunately they only provide a small soap, toilet paper and towels, no shampoo, conditioner or shower gel. The bad was that the fan room had no hot water which was surprising for us, and on top of this we got no proper blanket to cover ourselves but a towel which wasn't that big so we were struggling with the cold during the night. Also, you can hear everything around as the room had a big opening to the main hall covered with something like a fence so you can see throw and obviously hear anyone passing by. The toilet had the same issue, the walls aren't built up to the ceiling so you can hear everything happening there in the room...
LLeem TanGood location, easy to find food because it's next to the hospital. There is a parking space for people to hitchhike to because there are a lot of cars in the morning. The room is ok, the bed is soft at V, the air conditioner is cool, but room 206 has a broken sink and clogged water pipe1. The rest are all good. There's also fresh coffee available.
GGuest UserA very reasonably priced hotel with clean and comfy room and small balcony. The location is just over the bridge the other side from the main town but it is quite peaceful and very easy to access the night markets. I would recommend renting a moped or even a bicycle would be fine. If you visit, walk down to the waterfront near the crossroads bar and you might see a big monitor lizard in the tree. Also I recommend a little trip to Koh Lamphu which is a little island you can go around on foot or bicycle. Next to the entrance there is a little food market which opens at night. A perfect way to experience a bit of local Thai life.
