Pathetic experience at eqbal inn stayed with family at eqbal inn on 9-10 jun e 2024. The property is at a prime location. Right at the check in at the front desk at 1400 ist we got a negative vibe as if they are not bothered. Post check in formalities the key card was handed over. No hotel staff was there to carry the luggage even to the room. Carried the luggage ourselves to the assigned room. The key card did not function as it was not charged. On contacting the front desk it was told to contact the room service on the second floor, they will open the room (rather than the front desk in-charge calling up the room service to provide necessary assistance. On entering the assigned deluxe family room was not to be found not to be the same on ground as shown on the mm t website. Nevertheless we settled as we were tired and after a long journey. The amenities in the room and the state of the bathroom forced us to conclude that the room was definitely over-priced. On going through the menu we found that the prices quoted are astronomical. We decided to have lunch outside. Later in the evening, on enquiring about the timings of dinner buffet (since we had opted to have dinner at the hotel as part of the deal @ approx rs 1600 for 2 adults 2 children) we were informed that no dinner buffet is planned and ala carte order can be placed. On placing an ala carte order, the room service informed that the management has confirmed that a pure planned veg thali will be served that to only for three. We decided not to pursue the issue further. In the morning, a restricted breakfast buffet was served consisting of veg sandwich, two types of cut fruits, puri-sabzi, toast-omlette, pathetic tasting poha, boiled eggs and finally tea and coffee. We checked out immediately after breakfast with a feeling that in the price of approx rs 7000 that we paid for the stay we definitely could have found a better alternative in patiala. I presume the property is ideal for marriage functions etc and not for tourists.
