My three basic criteria for any hotel - comfortable bed, good shower pressure and drinkable coffee - were satisfied. Our room and bathroom were well-appointed. Towels were of variable thickness, but the robes were good. Breakfast was extensive, though not as appetising as might be hoped. It's very near the train and bus stations and Piazzale Minerva, which is not a picturesque location, but it is very handy for public transport and is walking distance of most of the historic sites. Good front desk.

For my first visit to Pavia, I chose to stay at Hotel Moderno. This was a unique experience for me. Rather than walking across the pedestrianized Centro Storico, I could actually see Hotel Moderno across the Piazza. It is only a few minutes walk into the pedestrianized portion of the centro storico. My room was comfortable and as shown in photographs. The front reception staff was friendly and useful. Prima colazine was generous. As I am always looking for opportunities to improve my spoken Italian, I was given the chance to roam about a large Italian supermarket just a fgew blocks away. If I return to pvia , Hotel Moderno would be my choice for accomodation again

4 stelle sulla carta, 2 stelle nella realtà. HOTEL vecchio, camere vecchie, zero insonorizzazione..alle ore 6.00/6.30 ci si sveglia per il rumore del traffico. Colazione e servizi nella media. Pulizia nella media. Per una notte di passaggio può andare, ma credo e spero che Pavia possa offrire di meglio.

Hotel located in the square in front of the train station, with some reserved car parks in front of the structure; structure easily accessible by public transport, a stone's throw from the centre. Welcoming and very kind and professional staff, very helpful. Bright room, very quiet; with large bed, suitcase rack, flat TV, chair and armchair, wardrobe, mini bar, coffee machine, USB plugs for charging. Bathroom not large but with large shower, toilet, bidet, large sink; very welcoming and warm. Breakfast with large sweet / savory buffet, fruit / vegetables, juice dispenser, staff available for hot drinks (coffee, tea, barley, capuccino, etc...). Overall it could use a refresh in some details. . . such as external fixtures. . .

Clean and well-kept hotel with everything you need for a comfortable stay, quiet and clean rooms. Minibar present. The hotel is located a few steps from the station and very close to the pedestrian area of the city. Large, clean room, equipped with all comforts, including an espresso machine. Varied and plentiful breakfast, good quality. I was struck by the courtesy of the employees, from the reception to the staff in the breakfast room as well as the maid on the floors. Passing through, I stop for a night.. it has nothing MODERN. Very old structure. Carpet in the corridors very dirty. Old rooms. The dirty bathroom, the shower cubicle has layers of dirt that have never been removed. I don't recommend it also because for the little quality they do, they charge very well.

Very good hotel located just in front of main train station in Pavia, very practical location if you travel by train. Just 10 minutes on foot to historical city centre. Nice, helpful staff; clean, comfy room, beds and bathroom, and excellent buffet restaurant. Reasonable price. Great option if you want to stay overnigth in Pavia to visit the historical city centre and (don't miss it) the beautiful, impressive Certosa, a must in Lombardia, just 20 km north from Pavia.

This must be one of the friendliest hotels on the planet. A warm welcome, easygoing, excellent and friendly staff. They also welcomed our bikes and washed clothes for us. The rooms were spotless and the breakfast first class . Nice and central too.
