The Angel was selected for one of our evening pub runs and they did not disapoint. About 20 of us sat down in the front dining area and the food was to an excellent standard. Head chef Nick did a really great job and all the staff were wonderfull. I am sure we will return next year.

Called in to have a look and have a beer ,was told rudely that I had ``time for one`` I risked a half of Amstel and it was like Vinegar ! plus expensive and undrinkable ,so I returned to the old pub in the Marketplace and had two pints of good but inexpensive Beer and no rushing me out ,the Angel Inn needs a Manager that likes his /her Job .

We were a party of 8 for dinner and we were made very welcome. The menu was varied and interesting without being too fancy, the food was well cooked and nicely presented, the service was attentive with a smile and the pricing was reasonable too.

My partner and I returned to Petworth to see Petworth House and stayed at The Angel Inn. Our lovely room was called Sweet Chestnut and it had a big comfy bed and a large modern marble bathroom. Lots of storage space and charmingly laid out. We had a couple of great meals at the restaurant whilst there, including an amazing breakfast and hearty lunch. There was a big marquee in the garden, with a celebration going on the afternoon we were there. The staff were all very welcoming and the place was clean and well presented, and it was great that the car park was right opposite the hotel. Petworth park is a five minute walk away and there was a great modern art gallery in Petworth too, Newlands House Gallery. Unfortunately we will miss the Petworth Festival this time, but the town was very buzzy. A great little town!

I would say its over priced for what it was. £230 for a small room with a super king bed with quite a hard mattress. Being an old building you expect the usual cobwebs, wonkey doors and stained carpet. I guess all part of the character of the building. Do expect some road noise at night and its quite warm in there. A fan is supplied but windows are small. The bathroom needed some TLC. Black mould or dirt in the floor grout and I couldn't take a second look at the shower corners, absolutely disgusting black grime. On a minor note, the reception had to pop to the local shop to buy some shower gel as it was missing from the room. Breakfast was included and very nice as was our evening meal. The car park opposite was very convenient but it would be luck of the draw if you were there on a busy weekend.

We went to the Angel inn for my daughters wedding in Pulborough. We booked 2 rooms and had Sweet chestnut and oak. I cannot praise the staff highly enough. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The food was excellent and so was the service. My husband and I liked it so much that we stayed for a third night. The only downside was the access to the rooms. The staircase is difficult if you are not very mobile and this would be the only obstacle stopping us staying again. A big thank you to all the staff at the Angel for making our stay so special.

Stayed here for one night while we were exploring the area. Last minute booking and we were allocated Scots Pine. Lovely room with enormous bathroom BUT directly above the kitchen. Very noisy with doors and pans banging plus you could here everything that was being said. Also the room was freezing and the heating seemed to make little impact on the room temperature. Luckily they had another room free (Sweet Chestnut): while both the room and bathroom were far smaller it was also much, much quieter and was also far warmer! Had both dinner and breakfast at The Angel. Dinner was OK but nothing special: breakfast was superb.

I am not someone who normally leaves reviews anywhere, but this time I am making an exception. Having been advised over the phone by an employee that we would be welcome to have a drink and listen to the jazz music (friends of a friend), we walked into the bar area early evening and were pounced on by a very inhospitable host, who said we could have a drink but had to leave in 10 minutes. While there was no sign anywhere saying that drinkers at the bar were not welcome, he told us that all his attention was given to people who were "paying". So, as he told us that they were fully booked and couldn't even stay and eat, we wandered down the lovely street to The Star where we were made very welcome by the friendly and attentive bar staff and customers. It was a 40 minute drive to Petworth and we ended up having a very pleasant evening - but not at The Angel Inn. Inns aren't what they used to be.

We booked the inn and the houses for our wedding weekend in October last year and they were helpful and accommodating from start to finish, from splitting invoices to having a meal (the food was great too) for a large group one of the evenings, it was a stress free booking. The room we stayed in (Scots Pine) was very luxurious and was perfect for our special weekend, would definitely stay again!
