We had a very pleasant stay at the Centara at Kata. The staff was helpful, the buggy ride a convenience.
The breakfast has a great selection in local as well as continental varieties.
The pools are also quite well placed for children and adults.
The room could do with an iron.
The location is very centrally located with the beach and food markets quite accessible with a walk

We changed hotels temporarily. There was a heavy rain in Kata. After the water supply in Bamu was cut off, we just found a hotel nearby that night (I want to complain about the taxi driver that night. He asked for 300 baht for the 600-meter distance from Bamu to Centara. He finally bargained for 200. We had to accept it because we had to carry our suitcases and it was late at night).
The room was arranged on the third floor, but there was no elevator! Fortunately, there were staff to help us carry our luggage to the room. The room was just like an ordinary budget hotel, but it was clean and tidy. The only bad impression was that when we checked out, the front desk said that they couldn't find slippers in the room. We all wore our own shoes. After some explanation, we were allowed to check out.

Room is fine, not glamorous but fine.
Gym has fairly decent kit.
Loads of shops, bars, resturaunt around.
Hotel resturaunt and bar is also pretty sound.
Pool is nice and plenty space around the pool.

Honestly, the room was not as good as I thought, but the pool was okay. The water was warm, so the kids enjoyed playing. I stayed for 5 days. There was a barbecue buffet on Wednesdays, and it was great to be able to eat barbecue at a cheap price. Kids were free. There were singers who sang like a small concert. I think this was the best part of my stay.
It was a decent breakfast among Southeast Asian breakfasts.
However, the beach was a bit far away. It was too hot to walk with the kids. However, there was a bus that ran to the beach several times a day.
Overall, I recommend it.
