Finding a secluded place to stay in Phuket with its own beach and without crowds of tourists during the Chinese New Year is not an easy task. But we did it! Namaka Resort was a real discovery: jungle, fantastic sea views and almost complete privacy.
LOCATION
Namaka is located on a hill, one and a half kilometers from Kamala Beach. This area is called the "millionaires' mountain" - villas for Hollywood stars were built here. Now there are only two hotels here - Namaka and the luxury Hyatt, the rest are villas and residences.
The hotel goes down to the semi-wild Rayee Beach, surrounded by jungle. Waking up to the singing of birds and the sounds of the tropics is a real pleasure.
The nearest store or cafe is a kilometer away, part of the way uphill. We walked around the neighborhood, reaching restaurants and massage parlors in 15 minutes. A free shuttle takes you to the center of Kamala once an hour.
Taxi drivers charge exorbitant prices – 350-400 baht for 1.5 km. Grab is also expensive – 380 baht. But for us the location was perfect: quiet, secluded, but close to entertainment.
BEACH
Rayee Beach is semi-wild and picturesque. On the beach there are only Hyatt hotel sun loungers and a small cafe. There are almost no tourists – only rare Thais.
The water is cleaner than on Kamala Beach, but there are low tides. In the morning the water goes away, by lunchtime it comes back. You can rent a kayak or a snorkeling mask from the Hyatt sun loungers – there is a small reef with fish nearby.
HOTEL TERRITORY
The hotel territory is a jungle, viewing platforms, a waterfall, ponds with lotuses and three pools overlooking the sea. We felt alone, despite the hotel being full.
The main building – two restaurants, a bar, a lobby, a billiard room, a library, a children's room. Two pools with a sea view, the third one is small and cozy, next to our building.
A total of 7 buildings and villas. We lived in building 7 - a good location: in the forest, with a sea view, not far from the main building.
There is a fitness room, an observation deck for weddings and sunsets. On the very first day, we fell in love with the hotel: architecture, greenery, cozy corners.
Cons: the renovation is not finished. The SPA is closed, some corners look abandoned. But this did not spoil the impression.
ROOMS
We lived in a deluxe (room 7203). A cozy room with a balcony and a sea view. Everything you need: soft beds, a desk, TV, a tea corner.
The bathroom has a shower, a bath, quality cosmetics. The floors are laminate, which is rare for the tropics.
There was not enough iron and minibar (the refrigerator was empty). But these are small things - I give the room 5 out of 5!
BREAKFAST
Breakfasts were served in a restaurant overlooking the sea. The choice of dishes was impressive: crispy buns, croissants, meat dishes (chicken, pork, beef), vegetables, fruits, cheese and meat plates.
You can order an omelet, fried eggs, pancakes, miso soup, Chinese dumplings. Four types of juice, water, tea, coffee.
SERVICE
Thai service is excellent. We were greeted with a cool drink and towels. The staff helped with suitcases, answered all questions with a smile.
On the last day, our room was extended for free. The cleaners and gardeners are always friendly. The service is a solid five.
Namaka Resort exceeded expectations. The hotel is suitable for those who love privacy, walks, beautiful views and beaches without crowds.
