The location is great for traveling. It would be great if you are traveling as a family. It's geographically close to going to downtown Tampa or Clearwater.
Dolphin Beach Resort

St Pete Beach - Long Key
We LOVED this resort, so we think it comes down to what you prefer and what you are expecting. This resort is charming. Yes, a little older, so if you are looking for fancy and modern, this is not it. We loved the decor, which seems like it has been updated at some point, very colorful and a bit latin in feel, but also a bit nostaligic-retro-ish, maybe like 60's without seeming that old. Since we love visiting places like Cocoa Beach with that throwback feel, this was a plus for us. We originally booked a standard room with a discount booking agent, but when we arrived we had saved more money and splurged for a balcony on the poolside--and we will do that again for SURE. In fact, this is our new favorite place to visit. We came the week after students went back to school, so the beach was not hugely populated, and we had a lovely, mostly quiet stay. We were looking for escape and rest by the ocean for the first time since the pandemic, so all we needed was clean, affordable, not gross, next to the ocean, able to feel the breezes, and that is what we got! Note: They do not clean the rooms every day, but every few days, but they will replace any items you need upon request. We appreciated the eco-friendly aspect of this! Plusses: -Affordable -walking distance to shopping center and various restaurants and bars -check out the freebee e-cart taxi that will pick you up next to hotel and take you nearly anwhere in St. Pete! -bus stop/trolley stops next to or across from hotel -we encountered a margarita special in the restaurant the first day that seems to happen often -Kitchenette with microwave and refridgerator -Beach literally right outside. (Non-canopied lounge chairs are free, but chairs with covers will have a charge) -Beautiful landscaping Potential downsides- -Not fancy or modern -no breakfast provided, though there is a restaurant on property as well as a pool bar that serves food, too -Not totally sure of the restaurant hours? They often looked closed. We never ate there, as it seemed a bit expensive for what we were interested in getting We are literally looking for the next opportunity to go back, and this is where we want to stay. There was something so charming about it, and the service was great.

Arrived a couple hours early before check-in hoping to get our room after long day of travel. Our room was not ready, but they took our cell # & invited us to enjoy the hotel facilities until a room was ready. We sat by the pool for about 45 minutes enjoying the beautiful day, relaxing on the plentiful lounge chairs. We were called to let us know our room was ready. Daniel checked us in and gave us the details of the hotel. We went up to our one bedroom King room and WOW!!! WE WERE BLOWN AWAY BY THE ROOM, THE VIEW. Just an incredible view of the beach, the pool, the Gulf. Two separate patios, each with two chairs and a table which we spent much time on eating, drinking, watching the world pass by. Kitchenette was nicely equipped as we went to Publix just 4 minute drive up the street to get lunch ingredients, snacks & beverages. Cutlery, full fridge/freezer, toaster, plates, bowls, utensils. Dishwasher too. Included breakfast had typical waffle machines, bagels, cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, milk. All kept full. Hotel never felt busy. Always able to get a seat by the pool. Nice access to the beautiful beach. Nice perk that they offer complimentary towels for use at the pool or the beach. Never had any issues getting a parking spot. Every member of staff we encountered were friendly & helpful. We have a couple more nights here & are thrilled that we found this place. Already planning to come back.

Very nice, quiet hotel a little outside of town. Room was very clean, staff very friendly. Only the pool could have been a little cleaner.

Only real complaint is the front desk attendant Steve. Being the only person in line while the other clerk was helping a customer in-front of me instead of helping me check in he decided it was more important to run around talk poorly of his other co-workers and do busy work. While waiting patiently he finally greeted me after standing there for 20 minutes that he would “be with me soon”. After waiting another 10-15 minutes he was ready to “help me” if you would even call it that. He started the check in process couldn’t remember my name after he asked three times what the reservation name was under walked off twice without saying anything and then would come back and ask the same questions finally the second time the front desk manager stepped in and finished the process as well as offering two free drinks I’m sure because she could see the frustration in my face. Was a horrible start. Although Steve ruined the beginning of the stay the hotel and amenities and rest of the staff were amazing, so friendly and on top of things. Loved the location and set up of the hotel!
Pier House 60 Clearwater Beach Marina Hotel

We stayed here in June and had a good experience, except for the “below average” breakfast ( keep that in mind). We had a great view in room 602, and before we left, booked it again for September, requesting the same room—at least the same view. We came there in June because we prepaid for the rooms, though the Ringo & his All-Starr Band concert got postponed to September (two of them had COVID in June). So we came back last week for the concert. The concert was great, but cannot say that for Pier 60. When we checked in last week, we were relegated to a room as far away as possible from what we requested when we rebooked, a view of the parking garage. We went to the front desk, were informed it would be an extra $100 per night to stay in the same area we did before. When I protested, the clerk lowered it to $75 per night, wouldn’t go any lower, AND said we’d have to pay an extra $32 per day for parking, the pool, and the below average (and supposedly “complimentary” breakfast). My spouse had an injured foot and didn’t need to walk that far to the worst room in the hotel, so we bit the bullet and stayed in the better room and got hosed for the extra charges. That won’t happen again. If we ever return to Clearwater, which is doubtful at this point, we will avoid Pier 60 like the plague, We don’t appreciate being treated so badly. On top of being hosed as we were, I don’t need rock-hard breakfast items and bruised bananas. Never again. Be forewarned. I’m thankful Trip Advisor gives the chance to warn others.
