Hotels near Chiesa di Santa Caterina, Pisa

I booked this hotel after seeing another reviewer say that they stayed here as a solo female traveller and found it clean and safe. I would echo this reviewer's comments. I stayed here for five nights, and used Pisa as a base to travel to other places (namely Lucca, Firenze, and Siena) so wanted somewhere within a reasonable walking distance of the train station as I envisioned returning to the hotel when it was dark. I took the 'Pisa mover' shuttle from the airport to Pisa Centrale station (which cost €5 and took around 5 minutes), and then the walk to Hotel Bologna with my suitcase was in pretty much a straight line through the main square and down paved and well lit streets. It took around 7 minutes to walk from the station to the hotel. I arrived at Hotel Bologna at around 10:00 and was able to leave my suitcase in a secure room (no charge) whilst I spent the day exploring Pisa. I came back around 18:00, collected my case, and formally checked in (although I could have checked in at 13:30) before heading out for dinner. Staff were mainly young and male, and were pleasant and spoke very good English. I was allocated room 16 which was on the first floor and overlooked the small car park and a patio area. There was no external noise apart from the odd aeroplane which cannot be helped anywhere in Pisa, although I imagine that (1) people might use the patio for drinks in better/warmer weather which would bother me if they were rowdy; and (2) people in the rooms which overlook the road at the front of the hotel (Via Giuseppe Mazzini) might experience a bit of traffic noise. The internal walls seemed quite thin and I suspect that the bathroom of the adjoining room was located right next to my bed as it was noisier than expected when they were having a shower and talking in the bathroom. However, luckily, the people next door weren't particularly noisy and showered at a reasonable time, so it didn't bother me per se. I stayed in a single room (single bed with en-suite) which was definitely big enough for just myself/did not feel cramped. The room was decorated in a more 'traditional Tuscan style' (think greens, reds, and golds) so not particularly 'instagram worthy' but neither am I. The room and bathroom felt and were kept very clean by housekeeping, as were the bedding and towels. The bathroom contained a toilet, shower cubicle with sliding doors, bidet, sink with large mirror, tissue dispenser, sanitary bag dispenser, toilet brush, bin with lid, and hairdryer. You receive complimentary shampoo, body wash, intimate wash, vegetable based soap bar, shower cap, and shoe sponge. In the bedroom there is another bin and a desk and chair with large mirror. Underneath the desk is a mini fridge containing a range of drinks and snacks, which I removed and instead used the fridge to store my own food and drink which I purchased from a Carrefour Express minimart which was a circa 5 minute walk away near the main shopping street. It was impossible to call her room, it was impressed by how bad she was kept; a masked coat in several points, a so dirty-weather bed structure that beige (original) had become grey full of maches. Mobiles and walls broke, the furniture covering the refrigerator was pendled as the Tower, a thermoconvector full of dust and dirt, and not working until the staff intervened to change the thermostat batteries. The OSCEN bathroom!! The muffa impregnated everywhere: in the shower structure, and between the plates, around the ports. broken plates. tricking bidet. water axes destroyed. red tubes. We complained with the staff (should we call him like this) at the reception of the stupid room, well, HAVE GODY! , admitting the problems, but they didn't change our room. Fortunately we stopped only one night. Entry hotel with all-in-destructive and careless teaching. And this already makes you think. The rest of the structure without care, everything ”got there”. It's NOT more!! The manager should be ashamed of calling it 3-star hotel.

I booked one day to just sleep over at this place, but really loved its service and the facilities. Breakfast was tasty and had multiple options. The only minus is the location, which is around 25 minutes' walk to the city center and 40 minutes to the railway station.

I was originally going to stay in Florence, but I found that there was a hotel next to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It was only when I arrived in Florence that I figured out how to book a hotel in Pisa. The hotel is good. Next to Pisa is the Mediterranean Sea, which is just a stone's throw away. I didn't see it because I didn't have a car and didn't dare to walk around. I booked it for two days, but I was afraid that I would miss the flight and stay for one day to run away. Looking at the Leaning Tower from a distance is the most realistic.

The first moment we saw the hotel, that it looked quit new. Also it, is we figured out. We missed a lot a warm feeling and warm atmosphere. The staff was friendly but beside everything felt really cold and quiet. No music, no nice little talks etc. The room was fine, except the pillows, duvet and mattress. Pillows were really hard, mattress was really hard and the duvet was just a blanket and a thin plaid. For in October that’s pretty cold during the night, but for summer is will be enough is guess. I guess the hotel is fine just for one night, if you just need one night. Or maybe a good place for business people. They had loads of space for meetings etc. If you are looking for a warm place when you are traveling with family or as couples, I’m not recommend this place. I wont come back by myself to this place, cos i prefer a warm and lovely place. The breakfast was fine and enough choice.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 5 days and we loved every minute ! It was amazing ! People were lovely and anything we needed help with such as public transport or ordering a taxi they were happy to help. We booked breakfast included which was definitely worth it as the breakfast had a variety of options and it was delicious. The location of the hotel wasn’t in the central of Pisa but still a great place to have it and a bus stop is right outside the hotel so once we had figured out the bus system it was super useful. Overall a great hotel and great customer service.

Great place for our school trip. From the booking until the check out, excellent communication and service from Francesca, but all the staff was really nice and helpful! Location is simply ideal: the beach is right there! Our students were totally enthusiastic. The sports facilities were a big plus. You can have a calm breakfast at the café, and then delicious lunch and dinner at the restaurant (the frito misto is the highlight of the menu). There is also a small supermarket satisfying all the essential needs. My students and I totally recommend the Mare e Sole camping!
