Gran Castillo Tagoro Family & Fun Playa Blanca

We stayed here for our honeymoon and took our 3 children with us. Unfortunately both my children ages 22 months and 6 months have tested positive with salmonella poisoning from the food at this hotel. One had to visit the hospital in lanzarote and my 6 month old was admitted twice after we arrived home. She was very very poorly and I’m devastated. They needed antibiotics and anti sickness meds on their return home. I tried to complain to the management about this but they were less than helpful. They did however offer free room service as we were stuck in our room a lot. But on our return home they charged my card anyway! Absolutely appalling!! We weren’t the only people in this hotel with salmonella. So please be very careful eating here. Especially with children as I would hate for this to happen to anyone else. It’s been heartbreaking. We now have solicitors involved and are suing this hotel. Also worth mentioning that environmental health in the uk are involved and actually contacted me today. That confirms that we aren’t the only cases here.

Great hotel, great staff. Nice food and spotlessly clean. In a great location We last came here over 6 years ago and didn't realise it had changed to a family hotel. Meal times and by the main pool were hectic. Lovely adults only section was like an oasis! Great to see small children and families having fun but probably would not return for a couples only break.

Be careful- sickness and diarrhoea- Noro Virus Only one restaurant for the main resort covering hundreds. You can book onto the one other restaurant - Italian - Porto fino which isn’t too busy but you may only get 1 booking for the duration of your stay. Main Restaurant too small for the amount of covers and hygiene measures in place are not sufficient. There is a small antibacterial gel on the way in that nobody used. Staff are not ensuring it is used when knowing the volume of hands that are touching the food utensils and knives to cut the bread. The restaurant is too busy and there are too many people using the same spoons, tongs, utensils without sanitation. I saw children’s hands in the sweet bowls taking sweets and then putting them back in. Although I realise wastage is not good, there was a lot of food reused and taken from both restaurants. Example mozzarella balls and tomatoes taken from Italian restaurant to main restaurant next day. (Bowls not used the previous night and left out in open restaurant air for a period of time. Lots of food bowls cling filmed over at the end of dinner after being sat there for hours then they would be out at the next sitting. Food was not cooked hot when it should of been - seafood pilau Plates not all clean and some left watery where not been dried thoroughly. We as a family were extremely poorly 5th day in and it ruined our holiday. Totally wiped out with the need to cancel flights home. My younger child was very poorly first, wiped out for 2 days, then me and my husband came ill with the same symptoms and now my other child. We have never been this poorly on holiday before and now reading past reviews something needs to be done with the restaurant and general hygiene of the facilities. It’s a very large resort attracting families due to the children’s facilities, people do seem to return which attracted me to book, I did not take any notice of the negative reviews but after being so poorly and only eating on the hotel premises I wish I had. Concept of the resort is there but not a 4/5 star for food and hygiene and general feel for the resort. There is no luxury.

Nice family hotel close to lovely beach and beautiful marina. Beach outside hotel is dark sand but 10 minutes down the road there is lovely sandy beach with amazing sea water… food at hotel lovely… I would recommend for family stay. Kids clubs available my kids only did couple mostly crafts and running around playing games. Daytime entertainment mainly aqua aerobic… which was fun… Entertainment team ok but didn’t feel as much interaction and chatting to guests as at another places. On site other than bufet restaurant was Italian 🇮🇹 and dinner was lovely… you only order main of the menu starter and pudding is self service buffet. Rooms were very spacious and cleaned every day.
