The resort was wonderful. Restaurants excellent. Clean many options for swimming and eating . Staff went above and beyond. My only complaint is there are no laundry facilities. All your laundry must be sent out and the cost is prohibitive.

Let’s start with the good. The staff. The staff is friendly. They want to be helpful. From the bellmen, the waiters, to the towel staff, they were friendly across the board. However…. The hotel is mismanaged and is designed to upsell you. It is far from all inclusive. Immediately upon arrival we were hit with a time share sales pitch. We then learned that if we wanted to be able to make dinner reservations, we had to upgrade our room ($900 for a week stay). If you don’t pay for an upgrade (keep in mind the property is already pricey) it may be 2 hours before you can get a table for dinner. There were still lines at 10:00 pm waiting for a table. You want ice cream? Only soft serve vanilla is included. Any other flavor costs money. Anything other than black coffee, that comes at a cost. The list goes on. But that isn’t the most frustrating part. They run out of things all the time. Towels at the beach? Sorry, we ran out (never did get towels our last day). Want Diet Coke? Sorry, we ran out. You want shampoo? Sorry, we ran out. Toilet paper? Sorry (we had the cleaning lady scrounge and find us leftover rolls from another room). Body wash? Nope. What you get when you check in the room is what you get (we stayed for a week). Always a shortage of something. Every day. Then, for two days the room keys didn’t work. Every time we needed to go to our room we had to have someone from the front desk let us in. The front desk said it was the door. Security said it was the front desk. Ugh. With our room upgrade we were supposed to receive certain benefits. Premium mini bar. Nope. Robes in the room. Nope. Aromatherapy. Nope. Didn’t receive anything promised other than the ability to make dinner reservations. I manage our firm’s corporate events team. I can tell you that these issues are management issue. They are not managing logistics and are looking to upsell you.

My Family and I experienced unfair treatment. It is sad to write this review in 2024 and say that we were mistreated because of the color of our skin. The unfair treatment started with French fries. My six-year-old wanted French fries, so we asked the wait staff if we could have fries since we did not see them on the menu; the waitress stated they do not have potatoes/ fries at the resort. Ten minutes later, a European Family sitting next to us - asked and they received. We ensured we tipped well to anyone who assisted us, but our money did not matter. The most disturbing issue was as we were waiting at the booth for our Bali Bed on the beach, my elderly (76years old) mother asked the staff if someone could grab her water because she felt faintish from walking a long distance through the sand and hot temperatures to get to the booking desk. The beach staff, Diana, Omar, and Sonya completely ignored my mother’s gentle request. Therefore, I asked a younger staff member not doing anything if he could grab my mother water while we completed the traction for the beach bed. The young man by the name of Omar stated that it was not his job and he was not a waiter. As he made the statement; he began to walk off. So, to him, my elderly mother meant nothing to him as she was bent over from exhaustion from walking through the sand. I spoke to Diana who said she was Omar’s supervisor. Diana stated she would speak with him. However, she left and no one got any water. Food drinks gross!

Pending reviewReviewed Hotel itself the grounds are beautiful the pools are well maintained the beach is amazing the cleanliness of the whole hotel has been fantastic, staff are friendly however, the food was average and there are not enough food places open at the same times to handle the capacity of the complex, sometimes wait times are 2 hours, lots of extremely large groups, rained ( torrential) for days so not enough indoor venues when it rains, kids aren’t allowed in some areas so there was nothing for them to do when it rained, I didn’t travel with young children but I would have struggled if we had - food wise, entertainment etc, if you smoke there are only two areas where you can go for a cigarette which are quite a walk away, I would say the holiday has been just ‘ok’ I would definitely say it’s not 5 *, also MOSQUITOS, we have been bitten so much they are terrible, repellents do not work either, food- breakfast is not worth getting up for long waits for an omelette other items were very bizarre ( not what we would call breakfast items ) cereal was available but the milk was room temperature some days no bacon hash browns for days at a time, lunch and evening meals were not great either, there is nothing around the outside of the hotel - no bars restaurants etc you are basically in the middle of nowhere, we took a taxi to fifth avenue which was 350 mxn lots of shops but wasn’t worth revisiting again, beach hut they do burgers hot dogs, toastiest and there’s a place for pizzas, there is also a beach bbq once a week but was weather permitting ( basically lots of people walking around with umbrellas and nothing to do !

The resort looks good on the website but is a huge disappointment. I thought it was 5 star but is probably 3, maybe my mistake. The staff are the highlight, very friendly almost without exception. The resort advertises a number of restaurants but some were not open. There is no booking system so you normally have to wait about an hour to get a table. The wait is extra frustrating as the food almost everywhere is bland, well presented but tasteless. My first and probably last time in an all exclusive. The drinks were very weak so is this a strategy used by all inclusive resorts to stop people getting drunk? Whatever the reason this added to the boredom. On the first night a Coati got into our room at 3am, we changed rooms the next day but the hotel did not seem concerned at all. I had the impression they deal with a lot of complaints. We would not go back here under any circumstances.

We have just spent a fantastic 2 weeks at the The Fives and are already planning to revisit. A beautiful, well laid out hotel set in tropical grounds with an abundance of wildlife. Excellent food and helpful staff. Our first week here we encountered Storm Alberto which gave us 8 days of rain and were concerned we would not have much to do but this was not the case. Morning Yoga and Pilates, usually held outside was moved under cover, equipment was provided. Classes ran daily and it was a great way to meet fellow guests and socialise. Fully air conditioned gym and spa facilities and sports screen in The Gin Bar, kept everyone busy and upbeat until the sun came back out. We even had a Mexican cookery class and tequila tasting. Once the sun came back out, there were so many pool and beach activities it was hard to decide where to spend the day. We did love our afternoons at the Adult Pool and Natura open air restaurant - food was fantastic and monkeys swung through the trees as we ate. Tennis coach was also top notch. Special thanks to Victor - The Entertainment Manager - always around to keep everything running like clockwork and going that extra mile to look after the holiday makers - He made the travellers from the UK so happy by setting the England Football ( not soccer ) Match in the Gin Bar. A combination of a great resort, lots to do, good food and lots of very helpful and polite staff made this a super holiday, highly recommend - T & D

Paid over $9000 for epic package vacation for my family. Could not relax or enjoy any of the 7 nights. Nothing epic about the rooms or basic services. Stay away from the Fives. We had better services for less than half the price elsewhere. We have travelled and taken many vacations. THE Fives Beach Hotel & Residences so far has been the most expensive but worst vacation resort ever.
