Having spent a lot of time choosing a hotel we decided on Pooley Bridge Inn - and we were so glad we did. The room was perfect, well equipped and spotlessly clean. Fresh milk from the fridge, shortbread, and great coffee. The staff were all so helpful, friendly and efficient.

Good Points Cosy downstairs at the bar sat in front of an open fire and next to a wonderful Christmas tree on a cold and windy December night. Friendly barman. Bad Points Our room was dusty with cobwebs hanging from light fittings, the carpet had not been hoovered in a while, the shower head was covered in grime and an ashtray full of cigarette butts was waiting for us on the balcony. Food - I only ordered a basket of chips but these were served with an assortment dead flies. No I am not kidding. Even the condiment containers handed to me were in desperate need of a clean. A rare occurrence I am sure but it does make you wonder about kitchen cleanliness. The lad that worked behind the bar was very apologetic. Conclusion In comparison to other accommodation in the Lake District the Pooley Bridge Inn is overpriced (off season) even before you consider its shortcomings above. My friend and I were booked in for two nights but left after one. We had a far superior stay at Winder Hall in Low Lorton on our second night. No doubt with the right management the Pooley Bridge Inn could be a wonderful place to stay, however, I would advise caution at the moment.

Used this as our local whilst staying in Pooley Bridge. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Good menu and tasty food. Joined in the Wednesday quiz night which was great fun. It was our son’s 40th birthday on the Thursday and they were very happy for us to take a cake and provided plates, cutlery etc and brought it out candles ablaze and singing Happy Birthday which the whole pub joined in with! They helped to make a special occasion extra special. Thank you.

Two night stay with friends. The rooms were large, clean and comfortable, with good facilities and great views. We had breakfast and dinner on both days, the food was excellent and reasonably priced. A good selection of food and drinks, with some particularly nice wines. The staff were amazing, friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Helen, Toni and Immy, were very engaging and liked to joke, whilst remaining professional and on hand if we needed anything. Great place to stay in a beautiful part of the country.

Lovely warm and welcoming pub. Lots to choose from.on the menu. Food came fast and hot. Lots of seating area and a nice cosy fire for days like today . We didn’t have a problem getting a table but probably worth booking 1 so you’re not disappointed. Staff were so nice and helpful. Highly recommend this pub

Booked a good deal earlier in the year for two nights in March. Friendly greeting upon arrival and easy check in. Room was spotlessly clean albeit on the small size and a poor view over the buildings at the rear of the hotel. Had dinner first night, good pub food, just what 2as needed. Added bonus of a pub quiz raising money for local hospice charity so we joined in and was fun. Se4vice for dinner was good on first night although second night they appeared to be short staffed and had to grab staff attention a few times. All staff really friendly and helpful. Would definitely return but would probably not choose room 2.
