Ventus at Marina El Cid Spa & Beach Resort - All Inclusive

Disappointing, in a nutshell. We'll never go back. *Disclaimer: I am a food professional and I expect food to be served properly* Several restaurants, but they're open/closed at different times so the variety you're being sold on isn't always available and it's confusing at first to know where you can find a meal aside from the buffet and cafe. We had a very difficult time getting reservations at any of the dinner places they have on site. Platinum level guests didn't seem to struggle as much with reservations. We ate at Kobo once, it was good, but they reused the chopstick holders without washing them between guests at dinner sittings. (Eew). The cafe had really good lattes and offered multiple types of milk as well as cold sandwiches all day. I got really bad food poisoning on night 3 having never left the property. No one at the front desk offered help to my husband when he came down asking for it. We found out later from a friend back home that there is a medical clinic on-site. Dr. Ana had to come to our room and provide IV fluids and antibiotics. She was awesome. Our Insurance was needed for payment. The hotel never checked on us to see if we were ok or if I was any better. I was sick for the remaining 4 days, we missed our pre-paid excursions. Our room was skipped for housekeeping twice and our mini fridge was only refilled twice the entire week. Otherwise, housekeeping did a good job when they were there. The pools and spas were beautiful, but filthy. There was a scuz ring around the edge of the big pool and when someone pointed out to staff one day that something in the water *may* have been vomit, noone came back to clean it. The spa in the adult pool was disgusting. The food was well below average. It was the same food every day, just served slightly differently. LOTS of carbs. Nothing was seasoned properly or it was drowning in sauces. The pizza was undercooked and the dough still raw below the sauce. Fresh fruit every day was good. Breakfast at the ”French” restaurant (not really French at all, even at dinner) was decent but the line for fresh eggs or omelettes was really long. Room service was the *worst* I've ever had. The American burger wasn't 100% beef... Not really sure what it was. The chicken ciabatta had the tiniest flat chicken cutlet I've seen served to an adult or child. The Bolognese had zero seasoning and the pasta was undercooked. Puerto Morelos is a tiny town, but offered a little shopping. The people there were lovely. Unfortunately, it's $100 round trip for a taxi to either of the larger shopping cities, Playa del Carmen or Cancun. So the location isn't very good if that's what you're after. There weren't enough umbrella covered lounge chairs at the pools so sunburn becomes an even larger issue. Try the Ha, we were more successful with quiet and shade at their pool. Beware the mosquitos at night! They come out in swarms! Overall, a terrible experience and not worth what w
Desire Riviera Maya Pearl Resort All Inclusive - Couples Only

Once again an AMAZING experience for my husband and I ! As soon as you arrive you are greeted with ”Welcome home” and instantly feel relaxed. Checking in is effortless. We stayed in a junior suite, that fit our needs perfectly. Nice and spacious room with a beautiful view. Every morning we were welcomed with big smiles from Miguel, Victor and all pool staff, and attention to where we preferred to sit quiet side, music side, sun or shade. There are no shortage of activities from easy stretching yoga, beach/pool vollyball, dance classes, or water basketball, because of the amazing playmaker staff, Candace, Bella, Alejandra, Felix and Sam. They have the best energy you could ask for. Pool time is a delight, always meeting new people or running into a few from the last visit. Gabi is one of my favorite servers, never leaving me with an empty bottle of water or drink glass. The bar staff is unbelivalbe Pedro is always so attentive and has a drink in hand for me as I approach the bar :) The food is very good with a nice variety from Chef Julio, a warm welcome from Esmerelda at the restaurant reception to fantastic service from Carmen, Navaro and Servando never disappoints. Fantastic experience, highly recommended, we will be retuning soon.
The Fives Oceanfront

The Five Oceanfront was a pleasant surprise for my wife and me. We typically stay at larger all-inclusive resorts and specifically wanted to try a smaller one. My wife found this by Googling the top resorts in the area, and their larger resort in Playa was on the list, and she found this one by visiting the larger resort’s website. I don’t write many reviews, but when I do, they are detailed; I am particular about a lot of things and appreciate when others write with the same level of detail. We booked a trip for February, but a non-COVID illness forced us to delay the trip. The staff easily accommodated our request to push the trip out 3 weeks with no additional charges. Our visit was 3/18-3/25/21. We were greeted by a modern and stylish entrance. The resort is at the end of the road, with an undeveloped resort property next door. The “front desk” is a large wood table that, from our balcony, looks like the state of Texas, and is similarly large. “Live edge” wood tables are all over the place and in our room. We were on an all-inclusive package (optional at this resort and apparently, is available on a day-by-day basis), and our bracelets were colored string with a logoed wood tile (think Scrabble tile) with an RFID chip on the back for access to our floor and room. That was a nice touch compared to resorts that have plastic color-coded bracelets. The package included a chilled bottle of sparkling wine and a plate of fruit and chocolates in the fridge. 3 of each of these were stocked in the fridge each day: 3 kinds of soda, Sparling water, Heineken and Dos Equis beers. Still bottled water was also in the fridge (think glass coke bottles with water). We reserved a one-bedroom suite. The room was fitted out with a 5-cup drip coffee maker, a 2-burner cooktop, a combo microwave/toaster, and full-size fridge/freezer combo. A 65” (?) Samsung TV was in the family room and also in the bedroom. Unfortunately, the hotel software controlled the TV and changing inputs or using apps was not possible. That would have been nice for the couple of evenings we were in the room early. The living area had modern furniture, exactly as pictured on the website. Our balcony had two cushioned chaise lounges and a two-person jetted tub. The bathroom had double sinks, and a walk-in shower that had the best rainfall shower head we’ve ever had. Many places try, and most fail in providing nice fixtures and decent water pressure. Robes and disposable slippers were also provided. Plenty of room to unpack 2 full-size suitcases and store them out of the way. The sliding doors between the bedroom and living space were quiet to operate, heavy, and thick. This provided a good barrier for me to rise early and get some work done before my wife. I didn’t test the speed of the included Wi-Fi but it was plenty fast for the large files I access online for work. The wi-fi worked seamlessly anywhere on premise and out into the ocean (I only know this because I was receiving texts o

Our sea view suite, the room is spacious and the facilities are high-end taste, all toiletries are Bulgari, the hotel car children like it very much, although there is no sliding stairs, but it is very emotional to accompany the sea view, the best thing about the hotel is a full package, not a cost-effective self-service, but fresh ingredients, Great restaurant with excellent order, all the staff were service-conscious and hospitable, we would definitely return to Cancun again.
Azul Beach Resort Riviera Cancun by Karisma

We travelled to Azul Beach Mexico in March. It was a nice vacation. But we were very surprised to see that so much of the beach had been swept away with the last hurricane. The place is still the same but the staff seem that they are not so concerned with the guest. Our personal butler from the Prestige Travellers club was very accommodating and so was the pool concierge but the fact was that we had to wait every morning at 8 am just to a pool palapa seemed a little ridiculous, especially when you're on vacation - they should change that part. And the beach was a disaster - we only got a chance to go to the beach for 3 days of our 7 day vacation and we are beach people - so that was extremely disappointing. There are masses of sargasso coming out on the beach, so if you love swimming in the beach - this is NOT the beach for you. As usual, the food is always good and the people are lovely.
