Shining Waters - Ingleside Cottages

We had an amazing stay. The service and all staff were amazing especially Emily. We loved her already from chatting on the phone while booking with her kind and friendly personality. She went over and beyond to accommodate us and even brought my daughter a doughnut and candle on her birthday. A courtesy call on the way home to wish us well and welcome us back in the future. Service and care like that is very rare. We felt so welcome and comfortable. The kids loved the 2 warm pools and playground and we were within walking distance to everything. The cottage was very clean and equipped with everything we needed. We will for sure be staying here again when visiting the area.

We stated in the gatehouse portion of this inn for two nights. Very nice location, easy to find and the grounds are well kept. Quite quiet despite being full. The room was quite large with a jet tub, fireplace and a separate bathroom area. A full breakfast was included for each morning. This inn is across the road from the Cavendish tourist bureau and there is a paved trail to the ocean. (10 minute walk). It is also across the road from a Tim's, convivence store and gas station. A short drive to most Cavendish attractions too. Save were vey friendly. Will be back.

I am writing this about a specific cottage... number 127 which is one of the older ones in the Ingleside section of the resort. The cottage needs to be condemned for so many reasons. When I arrived, I headed into the main bedroom to open the window as the cottage was stuffy - that was pretty much the end of my holiday activity. There is a 4 inch drop between the floor of the main room and the bedroom... but it is NOT marked. Thus, I assumed the floor was even, missed the step, fell flat and badly sprained my ankle. So much for my family get-together. But, aside from this significant danger, the whole cottage is falling apart. All the floors are uneven such that the refrigerator is at a 20+ degree tilt, one child rolled out of a bed in the 2nd room since the floor is so tilted, there are cracks in all the walls, bugs inside because the main door of cottage has gaps, neither bedroom door can be shut as the doors can't fit the frames due to the tilting... it's just so OLD. I do have to say, however, that the manager was very considerate and she tried desperately to switch us to another cottage but they were full. I have stayed in this resort previously and it was lovely so I suspect it's more about the specific cottage you end up with. However, as an annual visitor to PEI, I think PEI tourism needs to check this place out and condemn any cottage that is not livable.

We were staying here with all of our family - who we hadn’t seen in 3 years due to Covid, for a big reunion. Sadly, we had a very uncomfortable experience. After a few awkward encounters with the staff and with a man who we understand is the owner, a day later we were finally ready to enjoy our reunion get together. The kids were playing and accidentally got our frisbee stuck on the roof of another cabin. We were attempting to get it down but it was too high (we didn’t climb on the cabin, furniture or anything). The owner came down and yelled at us for trying to get it, after we ask for a long object, and would not help us at all! He left and then came back and continued to yell at the kids and young adults and said he tried to get it and couldn’t, but he didn’t even try. We just seemed like a huge inconvenience to him. When he was leaving and after rudely talking to our teenager, our teen accidentally ran into him while trying to catch a ball and THE MAN PUSHED OUR CHILD. He actually put hands on our family member. That is absolutely unacceptable. This man made our time here terrible and we always felt like we were walking on eggshells. You can’t advertise that you’re kid friendly and than constantly moan and groan at your guests for little things. We also experienced him threatening other guests during our stay. We will not recommend and we will not return.

Pros: Location within walking distance to Tim Hortons, Dunes and Visitors Centre. Lodge Room 13. Quiet comfortable rooms with A/C. Full breakfast included fresh pastries, eggs, ham, assortment of breads, cereal, yogurt, fruit, coffee and tea. Large living room with couches for seating. Beautiful views from wrap around porch. One of the quietest stays I have ever had. Cons: Steep staircase to second floors where rooms are. No in-room coffee maker or mini fridge. Older building means creaky floors. At the time of our visit only one pool was open.

We had never visited PEI and decided to stay at this Inn. Doris was lovely and greeted us and made us feel at home. Along with our 2 friends were were the only ones at the Inn. I felt like I had stepped back in time. The parlour was adorable, the grounds were lovely and our room, (yes it was a little small compared to what we are used to) was comfortable and quaint. I wish we had more time there as everyone was so nice. In the morning just before breakfast the power went out but we were still able to have our fruit and muffins. Doris gave us some great information on where to see and what to visit, she was just so helpful. It is so close to everything and we really enjoyed the Shining Waters Inn.

Our family of parents and two teenagers stayed at Shining Waters for 5 nights. Our three bedroom, two full washroom, two floor cottage was the nicest one that we have ever stayed at! Just having the three bedrooms and two full washrooms (including a jet tub in the ground floor one) was wonderful! The cottage also had a full kitchen, utensils, tv with satelite channels, and a barbecue on its porch (with chairs and a picnic table) Towels were provided and you could exchange them each day if you chose to. You have the option of having housekeeping come in to clean, but we didn't. Other facilities include two large pools (but one is still not operational, free parking next to the cottage, fire pits, and a children's play structure. There is free wifi, but it wasn't great, and usually only worked while on the porch. The office staff were welcoming and helpful whenever we needed assistance. The location is also fantastic, in the heart of Cavendish, across from the tourist information centre, and walking distance to shops, restaurants, PEI National Park, and a Tim Horton's. It is just a drive down the the road to beaches, Green Gables, a grocery store and many other eateries and attractions. Even Charlottetown, Summerside, North Rustico and Brackley Beach are all a 30 minute drive or less away. Our family had a great stay in our cottage at Shining Waters Resort, and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again on our next visit to PEI.

We shared a 3 bedroom cottage with my daughter’s family and loved the proximity to the pool. The cottage was a good size for the six of us and the children loved their stay there. The pool was clean and a good size, with chairs around the deck. The washroom in the cottage was good, with bath and shower, air conditioning and wifi were great.
