I have travelled all over the world, I have stayed in all types of accommodations, and I have dealt with many hotelier hosts and owners. Never in my life have I ever dealt with an owner so rude and dismissive of our concerns. The location of these cabins is quite remote. It is actually close to five hours away from where our previous stay was on the West Coast of Newfoundland. Upon arrival we checked in and paid for our accommodations. The office is at the store next to the cabins, as we unloaded our luggage and prepared for our two nights stay I saw a notice on the wall stating that a water boil order was in effect. Briefly, a water boil order is put into effect when the drinking water supply has been compromised or a piece of equipment is malfunctioning that helps make the water safe for usage. Now this order was put into place on July 1st. We booked this accommodation on July 22. No one informed us that a water boil order was in effect for nearly a month other than the notice of which we saw upon arrival. I’m not sure how everyone else operates and I do understand that these orders do come into a fact, and if you happen to live in one of those communities, then you work around it. However, having to incorporate boiling water to make it safe for cleaning, cooking, etc., is not normally part of the checklist that I have when taking a vacation and spending nearly $300 a night on a booking. At one point, the owner said that we were being silly and dismissed our concerns like they meant nothing. He gave us one option if we left right away, he would give us half our money back and leave us with no accommodation for that evening. I would never in a million years book a location that had a water boil order in effect on our vacation. He told us if we had a concern about getting water in our mouth, taking a shower to take a bath. This was certainly not the kind of hospitality that we were expecting on our dream vacation of Western Newfoundland. My advice to anyone booking a vacation through any of the booking platforms is to do a local search and history on implemented water boil orders to get a feel as to whether or not your water is going to be safe to drink, clean or cook with.

Poor customer service. Disrespectful and dismissive to a customer expressing an issue. The cabin itself and check in was fine, but the customer service from the owner/manager, who has at least one other property in the area, was surprisingly disappointing. We had left an article of clothing in the closet, and after we left, called to see if the staff had found it, and asked if they would mail it to us (which we said we would pay for). The post office is 10 steps away from the check in office. The owner said he would ask the staff if they found it and call me back. He did not call. I called again several hours later, and he had not checked with staff and said he hadn’t had time to check. Still no callback .I called again the following day, and first got no answer. We called from a different phone and he said he had been at the office but did not check with the staff. We called again later that day, and he still had not checked with the cleaning staff, and while I was noting my disappointment with him not doing something so simple as asking the staff if they found it, he cut me off and said, in an agitated voice “..let me tell you something, I told you we had a lost and found box where you can check…it would probably cost $20 to mail that”. I again said we had no problem paying for that. Part of the charm of the location is that they are over 400km off the beaten path. The problem for a visitor with checking the lost and found box is that they are over 400km off the beaten path. Another day has passed, and no call from the Manager.

We booked 2 days. We should have booked 2 weeks. Spotless, beautifully equipped, amazing view. We were in cabin 6. Cabins 5&7 are probably similar. Very convenient for L’Anse aux Meadows. We had a great meal at the Daily Catch. If you don’t like this cabin, you’re a monster who hates puppies.

These cabins are handy to L’Anse Aux Meadows and are located with an ocean view. The interior and furnishings are dated and has a strong musty smell. The kitchen is outfitted ok to eat in, however it would be helpful if there were a few extras included such as foil, Saran Wrap, etc. A full size coffee maker would also be better. The cafe was closed, so be sure to bring food or get something to eat before you arrive.

Very comfortable and clean cottages on the water. We were booked to stay at another property, but the owners either had water or staffing issues, so we were shifted to this property. Come prepared, as there are few options for food in the area if the little market isn't open and it is seasonal. The family was accommodating and friendly.

Great cabins located next to water are a great size for 2. Kitchen and sitting area with comfortable bed and clean bathroom. Wifi good considering where u are and tv has good choices. In warmer weather porch would be great to contemplate life on. Worth a stop. General store and small restaurant very close by.

First let me state what was good. Check was great, nice lady in the general store , very kind and friendly. Cabin was very clean and cute. Comfortable, cozy and decent. Cabin was near/ across the street from the water but no view. But close enough. I did see a cute fire pit and chairs but weather was too bad to use them but nice option. What was not good was lack of communication right from when I booked the cabin. Emails were not responded to, except for once when I resent it like three times. Not helpful when asking for local things or ideas. Definitely not welcoming from the owners. Even an email I sent the day before arriving was ignored. Upon arrival the wifi was only at 1 bar. Clearly too far away from the router. Upon inspection there was indeed no router in the cabin and most likely not in the attached cabin either. ( we stayed in number 4) when I texted to get help, I was told too many people were using the internet and that was why. Clearly the person doesn’t understand how wifi works, 1 bar of wifi is not from overuse. It’s from being too far from the router. Slow uploads might be from over use but even that is rare these days. I asked them to come check it the next day and was completely ignored. Not even an apology. The good thing is that there is great lte cell service in the area so we could make do. But if you need wifi, ( my h did to be connected to his own business still) this place doesn’t have the high speed wifi they say they do and they don’t care at all to help you. Every cabin should have its own router. Or wifi extender. So stay here for a cute clean co fu cabin but don’t expect communication or wifi or any helpful things about the local area like you might get at other places you stay.

Nice cottages on beautiful bay with friendly front desk but poorly managed. 1. Almost two weeks with temperatures above 27C. Neither front window opened (see pics). We asked for a fan to draw air through a side window and were told they’d try. I suggested that they bring one from home or borrow one if unable to buy one. Ultimately nothing provided and temps were around 30C (85F) outside and over 33C (90F) inside (with cooking). Couldn’t open door due to heavy mosquito and black flies. This was unit #5 - picks show others could open windows (see photos). 2. Working BR window screen has several holes allowing mosquitoes and flies in (photo). We were eaten alive overnight. 3. One front window has no covering. Front faces road and BR & BA doors on inside so no ducking from shower to dress in BR. (See photo from bathroom). 4. Sofa badly worn (see photo) 5. Store had no single detergent for laundry and wouldn’t sell by scoop, only large box. Subfloor in laundry room is rotted through with only vinyl flooring supporting weight.

Ted took my father and the rest of our group for a tour of Burnt Cape Ecological Reserve. My elderly father needed help getting around and Ted supplied all the help he needed. The unique flora was pointed out to us by Ted. It's amazing that trees can grow along the ground like they do there.
