If there was ever a spot to have as your home away from home, it would be Agterplaas. A truly warm, refreshing and authentic space! Elroy & Annemie are absolutely amazing hosts. The entire team is just so awesome and friendly. Breakfast was divine - need to go back for more of their yummy menu. Their outdoor areas are so serene and refreshing - truly a gift to enjoy ahead of an adventurous day!

Agterplaas Guesthouse is a lovely place with a lot of charme. We enjoy especially that it was possible to walk outside to restaurants and pubs nearby even at night. This is not everywhere possible in Johannesburg, as I understand. Melville is a small cosy bohemian district of the town that is nice to stay. Enjoy!

I cannot recommend Agterplaas highly enough. Our room was cool and comfortable with antique furniture and accoutrements a stylish touch. Elroy and Annemie are such gracious hosts, and incredible cooks too! (Filet on the braai for dinner with chili-chocolate sauce, then fresh vetkoek, bacon and eggs for breakfast – what a treat!) The dining room was our favourite place to hang out at the guesthouse, where stories of its twenty-five year history could be heard over malva pudding and glasses of wine. Sitting on the balcony that overlooks the koppies in the late afternoon winter sun was an added pleasure. Can't wait to return!

Safe place, great and kind owners , helps with any questions, house is very clean, comfortable beds. Breakfast was fresh and testy. It was one of the best places where I staid in South America . Thank you

We stayed in a lovely big room no 15 and had a cot for our toddler. The owner and staff were gracious and welcoming. They went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. We had a great time and will be back!

La maison est incroyable. L'accueil est fabuleux. L'emplacement est idéal. Le petit déjeuner délicieux. Que demander de plus ? L'endroit est meublé avec beaucoup de goût. La chambre est spacieuse et agréable. Il y a plusieurs terrasses et tout le monde s'emploie à ce que vous soyez bien.

C'est un lieu exceptionnel. L'endroit est super très calme et très sur idéalement placé à deux pas des bars et restos sympa. Le propriétaire est un chanteur connu en Afrique du Sud. C'est un lieu idéal pour resider à Johannesburg

Cadre très agréable, accueil formidable et petit déjeuner épatant ! Environnement très vert, quartier très calme. Proximité d’une rue animée, accès sécurisé par ruelle privée en escalier (restaurants, commerces…) ambiance bohème, assez déroutant au début mais finalement très sympa.
