Kiikii Inn & Suites
3.8/53 Reviews
I loved staying at KiiKii Inn. The gardens and views are amazing and the pool is clean and refreshing. Everyone who works at KiiKii was warm, welcoming and helpful. I could not believe the views - extraordinary mountain ranges on one side and magnificent beach views on the other. I spent a lot of time in the pool bouncing between one view and the other. KiiKii Inn is right on the beach so we fell asleep to the sound of waves. The gardens are kept immaculately. I found that all the pools I swam in were freezing for the first 30-60 seconds and then blissfully refreshing - well worth pushing through the cold. The units are spacious. We didn't get a unit on the beachfront but I would recommend that - both for the view and better air flow. The unit we had was near the pool, with lovely gardens outside, but it didn't have brilliant airflow. There isn't a restaurant operating at the moment but you can get breakfast (muesli, toast, marmalade and fruit) delivered to your room at 8am. We were lucky enough to have hired a car. There is not a lot open for food close to KiiKii, but the bus is just outside. KiiKii Inn is incredibly good value.
Sanctuary Rarotonga on the Beach (Adults Only)
3.7/541 Reviews
This is my 18th trip to the Cook Islands and this trip we stayed at Sanctuary Rarotonga On The Beach for a month. The location is superb with some of the best snorkelling on the island. There are plenty of activities within the resort and the staff are friendly and helpful. A special shoutout to staff members Loata, Alice, Memory, Moana & Moana (Moana x 2), Rachel, Dave and Christopher. Due to our long stay we got to know the staff well and saw their interactions with other tourists. They were always so helpful and friendly. I believe that a new executive chef will soon be on board along with new staff/chefs which will be great and we are looking forward to tasting some new food creations on our next trip. If you are looking for a relaxed holiday in a serene location then I highly recommend Sanctuary Rarotonga.
The Edgewater Resort & Spa
4.1/5106 Reviews
We stayed at Edgewater for 12 days as part of a holiday/work scout and it was beyond everything we expected. Basic room was perfect for our needs with great air conditioning which is essential and complimentary tropical continental buffets breakfast each morning. We had an amazing room which was on 3rd floor behind the restaurant with views of the pool, sea and stunning gardens from our window and balcony. The staff were so great, always happy and couldn’t do more for us including see us walking around the island and giving us rides in their personal vehicle and on their personal time. Complimentary snorkelling gear was well used by us and we ate frequently from the restaurant and definitely used the bar a lot. Got a massage at the spa which was blissful and easy to book in for. We will definitely be coming back again, I don’t think we’d want to stay anywhere else! Special mention to staff Ngaoa with reservations help and hospitality staff Veti, Jimmy, Mila and activities team. My only negatives were we had a room that seemed it adjoined to another by a double lock door but when someone was in that room it was not sound proof at all and was very loud. The guests that spent two nights there were unfortunately loud till the wee hours so that kept me awake. Luckily that was only for two nights and then they were gone.
Crown Beach Resort & Spa
4.2/541 Reviews
When you pay over $700 a night for a villa in a resort you have certain expectations on quality and service and I'm afraid the Crown Beach Resort fell well short of those expectations. You don't even get free wifi! You have to pay extra for that and there was no guarantee it would work if your villa was too far away from reception The whole resort is run down and nowhere near the 4 1/2 star resort it claims to be. It obviously was once, but not anymore. We had a beach front villa for 7 days. The villa was huge but run down. The whole resort needs a full makeover to charge the prices they charge. If it was $300 a night we would have been perfectly happy to overlook the quality issues, but when you pay over $5000 for a week you want luxury and we didnt get it! You walk around the resort and most of the feature ponds are near empty with green stagnant water, the gardens are bare and unattractive, We didn't have hot water in the villa for 2 days, the buffet breakfast is not good, in fact all their buffet meals are terrible. We booked in for the buffet Sunday roast which started at 6pm, we got there at 6:45 and most of the trays were empty, and what was there was cold! The staff don't seem to top up the trays as the night goes on so unless you are there as soon as it starts you are out of luck. Same goes for breakfast! Not good enough! The staff are all lovely though, very nice to deal with, but could be a bit slow in the restaurant and bar. But to be fair, we did have an issue with our booking and the general manager did try to make it right so credit for that. We talked to other guests during the week and they all felt the same as we did, infact we spoke to a couple who stayed there 6 years ago and couldn't believe how badly it deteriorated in that time. Overall we enjoyed our week, but from what we seen on the island there are plenty of other resorts that are way better value for money. Seems like most of the good reviews for this place are from a long time ago when the Crown was at its best. Those days are gone
Muri Motu Outlook
4.5/55 Reviews
Moana Sands Beachfront Villas
4.5/512 Reviews
If you found this review to be informative and helpful, please kindly note as it will help us better focus our future review efforts! We stayed at the Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel in late January on our visit to Rarotonga. This was our fourth trip to the Cook Islands and we’ve tried various accommodations to date, including two rental properties and another resort villas property within the island. Note Moana Sands Group has three properties on the island thus is the source of confusion for many reviews on TripAdvisor. We selected the Beachfront Hotel (believe it was the oldest property of the bunch) due to its ideal location beachfront on the reef for snorkelling. Upon booking the resort, it is important to note that those who have rental vehicles with flights arriving after-hours are still required to pay for a one-way shuttle for one person so the attendee can let you into your rooms. After further discussing with the property manager, you can elect to follow the transport or have one person join the shuttle. The driver from Kai Mani transport was efficient, friendly, greeted us with beautiful leis upon arrival, and waited on us while we sorted out our rental – they are an excellent transport provider. All hotel staff we interacted with during our stay were helpful and friendly. We elected for the deluxe suites on the third floor. The room itself is spacious and includes basic amenities in a mini-kitchenette of sorts (basic small appliances, utensils, mini-fridge). The room did show its age however, and during our stay we noticed the first- and second- floor rooms albeit smaller appeared to have recent renovations. We also found the air conditioner had serious challenges keeping up pace with the warm summer weather. We booked the property with the AC feature as a need to keep us cool, but the vaulted ceiling created more room volume/space to cool. Be aware as with any property in the tropics, that bugs/insects are abundant anywhere and some basic tips help keep them away from your room (keep food in fridge not on counter, clean up crumbs after eating, etc.) The option for a breakfast is a convenient way to start the day, but do note that there were few changes to selection during the course of our visit. Breakfast is continental variety, including fruits, teas/coffee/juices, breads, ham/cheese/veg, yogurt and cereals. During the last few days, we discovered a great way to make a toasted grilled sandwich – two slices of bread, buttered on the outside, with ham, cheese, tomato and onion, on the little George Foreman grill until golden brown. It really elevated the breakfast experience and is highly recommended. There is the option for grill breakfast items at extra cost should guests desire. The beachfront area was not busy during our stay, staff did their best to keep the area and sand nicely kept, and the property offers sports equipment for use. As avid snorkelers, we brought our own equipment and really enjoyed snorkelling the reef. In
