Possibly the most depressing hotel experience. Feels like it was built & decorated in the early 90’s and hasn’t seen a lick of paint since! You can see my room from the photos - no further comment required. Although it was funny how the room phone was not even connected - makes for a unique ornament! I was lucky to be given just 1 toilet roll - I had to ask reception for more as the cleaner didn’t bother to supply more! The restaurant/bar area is a sad little place - nothing available on draft as broken, a bottle of Bud nearly £5, complete silence with no music. Food was sub standard - chef managed to burn the bun on my burger! Overall, if you are looking for a miserable lonely weekend, this quite possibly is the place for you. If you want to at least smile, don’t stay here.

Very basic , tired hotel. The staff ( 1 Person) run the soulless public areas ( bar , reception, ….) The rooms far too basic for a 3star hotel. Decor from 70/80s and very shabby. No fridge. Clean but musty. Car park full of tradesman’s vans and lorries limiting the space for residents. I was told to park on grass. A ridiculously lit entrance giving a poor first impression.

No signage visible from road in the dark. Multiple work vans parked outside never a good sign. Evening reception team not welcoming. Restaurant menu on a well used A4 piece of paper = everything with chips. All looked a bit too grubby. Bar dilapidated. Reception staff running bar and massive empty restaurant. Room grubby. Sheets clean, bathroom clean, stuck in a 80's time warp. Reception and lift smelt heavily of tobacco smoke. Walls paper thin. 0720 am first door knock by housekeeping. Told them.i would be leaving at 8am. 0755 next door knock by housekeeping. Checked out without breakfast. Won't be back.

Good location, free onsite parking, staff are very friendly and helpful. I met the owner who did his best to accommodate us any way he could. We chose this hotel as it is pet friendly, there is an excellent park and playing fields located just around the corner to exercise your dog. The room was clean and well presented, very similar in size to a standard at a Premiere inn and would have scored 5 had it not been for a few bulbs not working and some other small things, but I would definitely stay here again. I had the cooked full English breakfast option paid after you’ve dined. This was good value for money and extras were available for a small additional cost. So if you’re looking for a good value pet friendly hotel whilst staying in Reading give this a look.

Had 2 nights here in December, basic but clean and comfortable. The weather was really cold and the room was nice and warm which was a godsend. A bit dated but was okay for a short stay. Downside was the corridor smelled of cigarettes, despite signs around stating a no smoking hotel. When this was mentioned to the receptionist she said it would be her colleagues in their store cupboard and she thought this was acceptable. Breakfast was basic and again just okay. Would I stay here again ? No I don’t think so.

Easy to find, large car park, friendly staff, very reasonably priced, restaurant has a fair selection of dishes, £14 or less. Bar prices are cheaper than the pub opposite. The rooms, nice double bed, big TV, bath, fluffy towels. All in all, excellent value for money.

Room was clean and tidy. Bathroom met expectations and even had some free toiletries. Towels clean and fluffy. Bed comfortable, linen clean and pillows nice and soft. We literally only slept here after a festival and cannot really fault. Only complaint was some marks on wall. Value for money and staff friendly.

Stayed in budget dog friendly room for one night. Disappointed upon arrival as didn't meet expectations from viewing the website. A poor website at that, little interaction but states newly purpose built, maybe in 2004, now with clear signs of wear and tear and lack of general maintenance and cleaning. (I found a bright pink tablet on the hallway floor which I let staff know about but my dog or a child could've picked it up first). Budget priced room was good to be fair, didn't include breakfast,.we knew that and which we purchased separately and although good was more expensive than usual but served in a timely manner. The room was a good size, comfortable bed, kettle, tea (no biscuits), bath and shower. Described as set in tranquil setting, however it's adjacent to main A4 road through outer Reading with associated noise throughout the night, more noticeable with open window. No aircon but tall floor fan provided. Some internal noise from other rooms. The bar was poorly stocked, had little choice. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially at 4am when asking for an extra pillow! All in all a budget experience, it did the job and wouldn't rule out staying again if necessary but would look elsewhere in same budget. I would've given 2.5 stars if I could have so being generous with 3.
