A vacation you want to get home from Are you excited to go on vacation to do some cleaning? No? Me neither! But that is what I got to do BOTH nights of this stay. I had splurged to get the outdoor-hottub room, because I truly needed a calm and relaxation. Instead, I arrived at a hottub that was filthy. Spend an hour the first night cleaning. The whole outdoor area looked like a bar fight. The space below the tub like someone had bashed it in. The lounge chair deeply disgusting with mold. Looked like they consistently emptied the tub onto the floor? Hot tip: Don’t have fabric chairs there, then! Even the parasol had a giant tear in the fabric. It looked nothing like the photos on the site. The next day? Dirty all over. Turns out the place was renovating?? Meaning no access to the promised spaces, like the rooftop. Or even the socalled private outdoor space, since there was builders looking in from literally both below and above. But obviously also meaning very dirty. No one seemed to care to clean for the guest after the day of building work. It was like they hadn’t done their maintenance during the winter and did it now instead to full inconvinience for paying guest. Couldn’t help but wonder if the outside was so dirty - how clean was the inside really? Also, I have a concussion. I asked specifically and repeatedly if calm was available. Sure, they said. Hint: Builders, hammers - not calm. There was a lot of other smaller inconviniences, all adding up to me giving up even mentioning them. Sad…

If your looking for a welcoming, relaxing place to stay in the heart of Rethymno, then Cressa Suits is definitely the place. Firstly the host's were so welcoming. We stayed for 7 days, every day we were greeted with smiles and conversation from Evri who made our stay feel extra special. The room was clean, comfortable, cool and quirky. Our bedding and towels were changed regularly and we had no issues with anything during our stay. The breakfast was delightful, presented in a basket of healthy, suprise delights every day and full of variety. Cressa Suits is situated in the heart of the old town, giving access to all the beautiful alley ways that surround the historic old town. This ment it was very easy for us to find restaurants, tavernas, shops and explore Rethymno's stunning landscape and heritage with ease. We will definitely come back and stay here in the future and highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a similar experience. It is located in the Old Town. There are only six rooms and so there isn't anyone there full time- they request that you tell them when you plan to arrive. We have a good sized room with a private deck. On the deck there is a very large Jacuzzi, though we didn't use it. A large umbrella provides shade. There is a table and chairs where it is pleasant to eat breakfast or you can go up to the roof and dine there in the sun. There is also a folding contraption that you can use to dry your towels or clothes. There is an exercise ball and two inflated lounge chairs. The king sized bed (actually two singles attached and sharing the blanket) is very comfortable [if you like firm mattresses - most Brits won't like the level of firmness]. The shower, toilet and sink are all in separate areas. The shower is large and very good. It is totally enclosed so there is no risk of water getting on the floor of the room. If you use hair conditioner bring your own as it's not provided (skin moisturizer is however). The breakfast is delivered to you in a basket. You call down after 8:00 AM for it. It is good but of course you don't have the multitude of choices that a hotel's breakfast buffet offers. For example it has only white bread not the whole grain we prefer.
