I came here with my 18 year old son and his friend. We had 2 separate rooms, nowhere near each other, but ok not too drastic. My room had a dodgy lock, took many attempts to unlock the door, found you had to pull the door handle towards you, let go, then scan the keypad, the door then flew open!!! The air con was useless, I had the setting as low as it would go and it was barely cool. My son’s shower in his room leaked all over the bathroom floor, and his air con was even worse than mine. And I had to fix the flush button on my toilet more than once, as it kept on getting jammed. For the time of year the hotel was still very busy, and by 9am you could not get a sun bed for love nor money, and selfishly people put towels down and were not there till mid afternoon. There is a terrible sewage smell that seems to get worse at night, it’s foul. The situation of the hotel is extremely remote, in the middle of nowhere as my son said. There are set prices for the taxis, but the drivers charge you more, buses are fairly cheap, but can be lengthy, 2 hours to Rhodes old town, and buses get quite packed, and you can be told you cannot board and must wait for the next bus, which could be another 20 minutes, which is not pleasant in high temperatures. But all this doesn’t compare to the food and drink, we are not fussy eaters by any means, but the food sadly was either undercooked or overcooked, every day lunch and dinner was grilled chicken and pork or bolognese. The other food was not great either, the rolls and bread were good, but the butter tasted like nothing I’d tasted before. There was a lot of salad, and I mean a lot. Food wasn’t very hot, and desserts were the same everyday. And the drinks were awful, sherbert tasting, sweet, cheap and sickly, the alcohol was so watered down and weak and not nice tasting at all. Plus you were charged for bottled water, which is strange. But I must say that majority of the staff are brilliant, friendly and helpful, and a huge shout out to spaghetti and Tomas who were fantastic. Also to my cleaner flora, who was so friendly, and kept my room lovely. Reception staff were great, the only odd one was a guy when we arrived on our first day early hours, was a bit robotic and didn’t seem to be able to explain if my son and his friend had a twin room or not. Just kept saying when you see the room you’ll know what I mean. Their room had a single sofa bed, with no bedding, plus a double bed. All in all we had a nice time, but I wouldn’t return there, which is a shame as staff are worth more than that. Rhodes is a beautiful place, but if you enjoy your food this place is not the place.
