We’ve dined here several times on day trips from Taos, but this time we stayed for two nights in the Chama Vista King Casita #16. The setting is lovely, situated at the rear of the property, backed up to fields and horse pastures. I was excited to discover a screened porch facing the open space. The king bed was comfortable, with clean linens. However, this space needs much more attention to detail and better cleaning! The porches/outdoor furniture were very dirty. The bathroom has an above-grade sink, and the area behind it was grimy and slimy. The tub had hairs that did not belong to us. We had a kitchenette and used some dishes upon our late night arrival. I went to the front desk the next morning to ask what to do with the dirty dishes and was told that housecleaning does not deal with them. I asked what the protocol was, and no one (including the housekeeper at the front desk) seemed to have an answer. There was no dish soap, no scrubber, no paper towels or clean dish cloths. Do guests clean/rinse them in the bathroom sink to the best of their ability and put back in the cabinets? Nasty! After pressing, a housekeeper brought by kitchen soap and two (hopefully clean) dish towels. But still….using the bathroom (grimy) sink for washing the dishes? Suggestion: don’t provide dishes/pots and pans/utensils unless there is sanitary method of cleaning them. Eliminate! Provide disposable items or none at all. This situation very negatively influenced my perception of the entire experience. Can you tell?
