Holiday Inn Express Rochester - University Area

We entered the building and there was a gentleman at the front desk area on the phone and a couple of ladies at the breakfast area chatting. We waited a couple of minutes for the guy to get off the phone, when one of the ladies walked up and asked how she couple help us. We had no indication that she worked there when we walked in. The room was on the small side, dated and the furniture in it was worn. The table in the room we were given was on its last legs. The beds and fridge were fine though. There was a microwave that we didn't use. There was also a Keurig and 4 coffee/tea pods. The bathroom was subpar. The tub was dinged up. There was a rubber mat in the tub that partially lifted when you used the tub. Not sure if it was a sticker or a rubber mat and I didn't dare to lift it up to check. Surprisingly, all the products in the bathroom were Dove and not the normal HIE stuff. The pool was closed. Breakfast was fine, 2 types of eggs and meats to choose from as well as breads, fruits, cereals. The pancake machine was broken.

Very comfortable and very clean, this hotel was newly renovated in 2021 The facilities are complete, the sanitation is very clean, and the environment is very convenient in the city center. The only thing is that the breakfast is not self-service, you need to order it yourself downstairs
Extended Stay America Suites - Rochester - Henrietta

I have stayed in several hotels in Henrietta over the past few months, son is a student out there. I am not a ”Everything has to be perfect” type of guy, but for the price, I would like certain things. When I checked in, they didn't have the person in front of me in their computer, so took quite a while to get him checked in. When I got there I asked if I could stay in a single. I was not sure if my son would be staying there or not, so I said I wanted a double (what I had reserved). The front desk person apparently was not told what rooms were clean, so she left, had to go upstairs somewhere to get a housekeeping list. By the time I got checked in there were 5 others behind me waiting to check in. I did get a choice of what floor I wanted. I choose the second floor. First thing I noticed was the smell. It is a ”non-smoking” hotel but apparently was not enforced. In fact, a previous person staying in my room had fixed a plastic bag over the smoke detector to keep it from going off. I didn't want to try to balance on the chair to try to take it off, so trusted the heat detector in the room to alert me if there was a fire. I was not going to be cooking in the room. Since there was no coffee maker, I wanted to heat up some water in the microwave for tea, I looked through the cabinets for mug, a pot, anything to use in the microwave or on the stove, there is nothing in the room. I stopped by the desk and asked for something to heat water in a microwave, like a mug. I was given a plastic cup, like the ones in the bathroom, not microwave safe. If you want to use the microwave or stove, bring your own dishes I guess, it says you can request dishes/ pots at the front desk, but didn't work for me. After I did get past the smoke smell (and opened up the window to let some fresh air in, they opened about 3 inches), I noticed the bed was small. I have a queen bed at home, this was not a queen. I also have a full, and pretty sure this was smaller than a full. Two people could fit, but would not be comfortable, unless you really, really wanted to cuddle together. I went out for a hockey game, got back about 10:30. From then until about 1:30 it sounded like someone above me was moving beds around. I couldn't tell exactly what time because the alarm clock display was broken. I am used to hotel room noise, not expecting quiet, this was really, really loud. I left the TV on to try to drown out some of the banging. I couldn't really watch it because it is a smaller 19 inch (about), set down on a lower table, so laying on the bed, you couldn't really see it, but I could at least listen. The light from the TV did help me to get across the room, there was only one plug by the bed (which you had to move the bed to get to), so if you wanted the alarm clock and a cell phone, you could not use the light. I was awake early, and got a shower. Got about 3 hours of sleep. Heard about the grab and go breakfast, so at least I could get a cup
Holiday Inn Rochester NY - Downtown

Except for no housekeeper cleaning every day, everything else is fine. Breakfast buffet for one person for 10 dollars, although the dishes are less, it is still affordable.
Hilton Garden Inn Rochester-Downtown

There was a feeling of cleanliness and it was a good hotel. The bed was nice. There was no bathtub, but it may be due to the grade of the room. As for breakfast, there was not salad, so vegetables were not taken very much, but American hotel may be such a thing. The gym was pretty good, but the weight equipment was a bit difficult to use. We did not use pool, but it was good to look at from the outside. I couldn't find a good restaurant around. Maybe there was, but I didn't ask the concierge, so I entered a nearby steak restaurant called Mortons. I was overcharged but it has nothing to do with the hotel. Overall it ’s pretty good.
