Very friendly staff and extremely helpful. I traveled with the dog and this hotel allows dogs to stay. Even gave me a nice present for my dog. Location is also perfect. Recommend this hotel!

We stayed at The James for 5 nights in the middle of July. It's a nice hotel - centrally located that' s walking distance to the train station, restaurants and attractions. The room we stayed in was a good size and nicely appointed. As part of the package we had use of 2 bikes for a full day. We took the bikes out on July 19 for a ride around Kinderdijk, which was about 20km away by waterbus. One of the bikes felt sluggish from the start but we attributed the problem to underinflated tires. Unfortunately, that wasn't the issue. It was making a loud pinging noise when it was put in reverse as in backing out of a bike rack on the ferry. The pedals were freewheeling as soon as we started riding when we came off the ferry. I emailed the hotel about the issue immediately but didn't hear anything back for over half an hour. A local pointed us to a bike shop 2 km away and off we went. This was the hottest day (39 C) the Netherlands had experienced in over a decade and we had almost 60 km to cover, so we wanted an earlier start. By the time the hotel emailed us back we were already at the bike shop getting it fixed. There's simply no way that we'd wait another hour or 2 for the hotel to send help. The mechanic was so disappointed with the bike's condition that he said the hotel should pay for the repair and that they may call him if they had any questions. The front desk told us their bike supplier would likely pay us back for the repair but 3 weeks later we're still waiting. The point is: I took the bike from the hotel, not their supplier. Any reasonable hotel would compensate their customers and deal with their supplier on their own. I'm not going to get too upset losing 35 euros but this shows how terrible customer service is with this hotel. You may stay there and it should be OK as long as nothing goes wrong.

Extremely clean. Brand new establishment. Super staff. Very accommodating. Easy, enjoyable common space to sit and read a book, surf the web, have a conversation or just listen to music. Inexpensive parking close by. Fabulous layout of rooms with tiered pricing and options- from a pod to room with private bathroom. Pods have clean shared multiple sinks for washing up/brushing teeth. Clean, locked bathrooms and locked separate shower stalls with soap provided; Like you would find in an upscale gym/athletic facility. Pod rooms were the size you’d find at some NYC boutique hotels. Highly recommend-for the price point you can’t beat it. Right adjacent to trendy Witte neighborhood.

The room was clean and the design of hotel was so cool.
But because of lack of any windows to outside and lack of natural lighting, the room was good just for sleeping. And there wasn’t any fresh air.
The breakfast was ok but just black coffee was on breakfast and if you want to drink cappuccino, you should pay extra for it.
Beside that, the location of hotel was pretty good.

Visited for North Sea Jazz festival in July 2022. Hotel is of a high standard throughout. Our room was a standard ”water view” double, and not that big but had all we needed in terms of furnishings and amenities. One tiny gripe of mine, the bathroom has a sliding frosted-glass door, which of course saves space, but doesn't fully close. Bed and bedding all very comfortable. Shower and Air-con easy to regulate. Plenty of lifts (elevators) at all times. Breakfast superb. All staff very friendly and efficient.

Great stay - my first time staying in a hostel and I really enjoyed the experience. Everything is very modern and convenient. The location is great and walking distance from lots of tourist attractions and yummy food spots. The hostel is situated in a very vibrant community area, so it can get quite noisy but once you’re inside your hub you don’t hear anything! The hubs themselves are cute and the bed is super spacious - you get the option of a bottom or top hub, I recommend a top hub if you want to feel slightly more comfortable. The hubs have Bluetooth speakers, an app to control lighting and to speak to the host for any issues. My hub was clean but not as clean as I thought it would be, there were some marks on the side, random hairs and the air-con vent was very very dusty. Apart from that, everything else was perfect. You have a wristband that allows you to charge things to your hub, lock up your belongings and open your hub door which I thought was very handy! I really enjoyed my stay and it was a great first hostel experience, would definitely stay with CityHub again as it was a bargain!

The room was very nice, vibrant colors, bed was awesome, all very clean. But the big mistake they made with the renovation were the doors. They slam with a very big bang, so when anyone else on the floor enters the room, it all shakes. And then they are not isolated, you can understand discussions happening outside the room. And then, for the breakfast, dinner, lunch: only christmas music. But of the worst kind. There is no place in the region to escape this in the morning, so you have to deal with the christmas music. And for 17 euro's, it's not even worth actually what you get after your ears are in pain with ”jolly happy christmas” three times during breakfast.

This hotel has a nice cosy entrance and the personel is very friendly. The room we stayed in at the third level was clean and spacy, and has a window that can be opened. There 's a mini fridge that cooled our stuff perfectly. There ś a table where you can sit at, and eat and drink. There 's also a waterkettle and coffee and teabags. A nice drawing on the wall above the beds. The beds are comfortable. The bathroom is large, too. It has a glass sliding door and a shower with thermostat valve. There is a parking beneath the hotel ($), and you can also park your car for free close in front of the hotel. We had a perfect stay for 2 nights and we love to come back sometime again. The villagecentre is about a 20 minutes walk from the hotel. There is a waterferry (for bikes and people only) that cruises every 15 minutes on the Merwede river to Dordrecht.

Outstanding
GGuest UserMy husband and I recently took a bicycle trip to Holland and spent one night at the Marriott in Rotterdam. We only wish that every hotel on our trip was as good as this. The Front Desk staff was incredibly friendly and helpful -- they had a special place to lock-up our bikes, helped us do that, spent time with us reviewing a map of the city to decide what to do and where to go, and emailed us additional information. The hotel is in a great central location, across from train station and in walking distance to a lot of sites. The rooms are good-sized, totally modern (great bathrooms!), very quiet, cool (it was warm and we needed air conditioning) and internet worked perfectly. Breakfast is served in a nice room with a great view of the station/city; friendly staff, hot items are cooked to order and the buffet is full of any item you might want. We're just sorry to we only stayed one night.
GGuest UserGoogle maps will not take you to the correct location of the hotel! The address states the hotel is in Leuvehaven; however the hotel and entrance are really on Terwenaker 18 (the small peninsula just east of the main road (Schiedsedijk). You can definitely see the hotel on the peninsula as you’re driving north on the main road, but your GPS / offline Google Maps won’t take you there. Just a tip in case you’re driving to the hotel. Other than that, our room was spacious, comfortable, had its own sauna, and a great view of the river. The hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk to the Cube Houses and central market area. Overall, we’d stay there again if in Rotterdam!
GGuest UserWhile booking the hotel we certainly came across more fancy sites & locations. Despite the traditional perception transmitted by the website the heart was more impressive than the shell. The dynamic staff and trendy setting did charme us differently. Turns out that surprisingly the hotel is a perfect oasis in a quite noisy city. Once inside no noise no stress just a nice trendy cocoon covering all the aspects to regenerate after a busy day in the city. The rooms are nicely designed with a view. Breakfast is still in the “old” setting, but luckily did receive a inspiring touch. Offering a lot of variance it is a good start of the day. The parking concept on the site was vague, but perfectly expected by the caretaking staff on the phone. Although close to the city centre most of the bar & restaurants are at the other end of the town, but when the weather is fine “who cares !?”.
ZZherThe hotel is one of the oldest building in the city but the interior surprises me with comfort, elegance as well as cleanliness. The room is comfortable and clean but it does get noisy at night from the streets and the walkway. The hotel requires room card to access to room floors which ensures the safety of their customers. The stay was excellent and managed to had a good rest. Location wise, it's less than 15 minutes walk to the Rotterdam Centraal train station and there is a McDonald's opposite of the hotel which makes the hotel's location great. Overall it's was an amazing and pleasant stay.
GGuest UserWe have already added RoomMates to our minute list of boutique hotel chains. Indeed the last one to be added was a recent stay too. Three stops from Rotterdam Central but more perfect than that, next to Foodhallen, the postcard-friendly Erasmus Bridge and the beautiful backdrop behind it plus wonderful neighbourhoods within walking distance. And the nearest metro is just a couple of minutes walk and the sight as you come up the escalator out into the open is one to behold. For sure the Room Mates Bruno (named after an actual living person although I didn’t feel the need to research that) is an ultra-modern, plush, primary-coloured haven. They’ve made great use of an old port building adding some rooftop apartments so there is a wonderful contrast between the heritage brickwork and the paint factory explosion inside. Considering we looked down to the main street from our 3rd-floor room, there was very little noise. Certainly, there was none coming from inside the building. I never heard a door close or a housekeeping trolly goes past and yet we passed in the corridor. We picked a fully-equipped Standard room just to have that extra space for a five-night stay. I did move the sofa to a different wall so we had somewhere else to sit and see the wall-mounted TV rather than the large, comfy (2 joined together) bed. The light duvet is accompanied by four assorted pillows. A very large desk next to a large sofa, which we felt suited another wall better, so we moved it. Service A solid welcome in the usual perfect European English that puts most Brits to shame. A kettle was happily supplied so we could have our own filter coffee bags. In fact, when on the first day there wasn’t one available I was introduced to the complimentary coffee machine in reception which also supplied hot (and cold) water. When filling up our travel cups to bring to the room on the first morning, staff were quick to find out if a kettle was now available. It was duly bought up to our room before our coffee had even brewed. Bathroom A modern, Spanish style - meaning a less than private toilet, and yet it all works. With no door to the bathroom itself, only the toilet cubicle has a frosted door. You still need to turn the telly up loud. The bathtub is deep and spacious with controls taps on the long side, although you have to twist your body around to reach from the outside, fine once you are in. The large shower is detachable for easy bath rinsing and there is space all around the tub for toiletries and mercifully, there is a towel rail under the sink where IT SHOULD BE. Talking of which, full-sized shampoo, conditioner and shower gel are wall-mounted, although you need to stand up in the bath to reach to save it pumping straight out onto your face but narrowly missing your eye. There are stacks of mostly paper sachets of body lotion, soaps and shower caps too. The bathroom had two bath and two hand towels along with a bath mat and I found spares in a cupboard too
GGuest UserI really like the feeling of this hotel. I like the wallpaper, furniture and furnishings of her home. The bed is very comfortable. The bed is clean and comfortable. The four-person family has a double bed. The twin beds have a water heater and a coffee machine. Room 2 can sit in the beautiful courtyard with a cup of coffee on the first floor. Great experience
GGavin AndrewGreat to have an apartment experience at lower than hotel prices. It doesn't get cleaned every day, but not a problem if you are used to tidying up after yourself.
Location is in the heart of the city - shopping, conference centre, restos and bars are all within walking distance. I would def choose again.
GGuest UserBooked this in a rush without checking TA - big mistake. On checking in the staff (who were the only positive) handed me some ear plugs !. At this point I considered walking to another hotel (should have done). You will not get any sleep here - with earplugs in the street noise was almost bearable (soft thudding of the nearby club) however the paper thin walls internally meant you could loudly hear other residents - I’m a heavy sleeper and was woken up at 4:45 (after finally getting to sleep at 1) - now this didn’t seem to be loud partygoers, just people talking relatively loudly managed to wake me up with earplugs in !!. WiFi/tv etc all fine, no air con so hot, but the other thing was I read these reviews before I went to bed on bedbugs. To be clear I didn’t see any - but to mitigate I slept above the covers with a long sleeve T-shirt. I do have a bite on my ankle but that may be a mozzie / happened elsewhere. This place is only fit for people on a big night out - get smashed, pass out on the bed, leave as it is in a great location. Anyone else heed the above - harder to enjoy a great city with no sleep.
NNicolawifiBooked just one night. . The women at the reception was really nice. I didn't know I had to pay 50 euro deposit, I didn't had credit card. She was nice by telling me nearby ATM. Room was clean. Not that small, actually big enough. Really nice looking bathroom.
GGuest UserThere is no elevator, the stairs are beyond imagination, the boss is very good, very enthusiastic, help with luggage and lie down the stairs. Cheap price, poor setting
