Martinhal Sagres Beach Family Resort Hotel

Overall it is a solid 4.5 star hotel and experience. The location is unbeatable, with breath-taking beach and sea view just off the front desk, as well as our beach room. The beach room is highly recommended for someone into the ocean view. The facility and staff are great. The Mercado even sells medicine (we got Gasvicon) which my wife could use the day we were there. The only downside that makes it not a full 5 star is that the room, decoration, and furniture are a bit outdated.

5-star resort made for families The resort is amazing, although very family oriented. We were the only couple without young kids. Still, we were able to relax. Upscale clientele.

lovely , quiet resort- great for families very beautiful setting in a quiet surfer town. the house was very clean, they had mulitple recycling bins (huge plus) and a very nice welcome basket. The area we stayed in had a private pool only for people in that set of townhouses, and it was lovely. we were there in the off season, mostly families and very quiet, especially after 8. easy access to downtown Sagres and some great surfing beaches and little cafes. food onsight was decent and the staff friendly. the hotel beach was nice, but covered in slightly smelly seaweed. the only issue we had was that our internet didnt work until the night before we left. we said something on the first day but they did not fix it until it came time to send the bill over tv and we could not access it.

After our late arrival, we decided to get our bearings the next day, the resort was bigger than we thought and had to be walked around in stages. The paths and gardens are immaculate as was the reception area. The kids play area and cafe facilities were good as was the service. All equipment like table tennis, air hockey, pool table, games consoles excellent. Quality of the food at the main pool and play area also excellent. Restaurant upstairs from reception clean tidy, staff pleasant and food reasonable but a bit pricey. Have to pay for quality I suppose. All four pools were open as was the crazy golf which needed to be better marked and access to the course via a proper route would be beneficial, walking across the gardeners watering system not good and course badly marked although enjoyable. Massage was booked and enjoyed by my wife, weather in November was pleasant and the villa we had was clean and tidy with spectacular views towards the beach. We drove to the beach area where the beach restaurant was and it was closed, the area around there needed some TLC. The walk ways at the front of the restaurant were in a bad state of repair. During our week there was building work taking place during that time which made it a bit noisy when sitting on the villa veranda. This was our first time at a resort like this, should we think of visiting again it wouldn’t be in November where facilities or few and far between, also a rental car is a requirement for exploring the area. We were heading to the sand sculptures when the heavens opened, so we decided to cancel our trip and head back to the resort. Definitely ideal for parents with young families but not so good for elderly guests. We cut our holiday short in the end and headed home, this was nothing to do with the resort, it was a choice that we made as a family.
