This place is just out of this world. When you walk in, you will be beamed back in the 60's ! The whole place is outstanding. Never saw a place like that, and it's meant positive. The lodge is complete old style, has the charme of the good old day's. It's very clean, the rooms are good sized , but dont be shocked by the interior. All is probably original. The bed was very good, we sleept like Babys. Quiet place, with a million dollar mountain view. They have dinner and breakfast in house, Gerry the dinner chef, prepaired us 2 fresh pizzas, best we had ever. Thank you Gerry. Breakfast is also good, not the everage stuff, everything is made fresh to order. Ok, if you looking for a friendly, quiet place, stop in. Tx to all the staff, super clean place.

Some of these reviews are merciless! After canvassing the area to find the best deal; Monarch Mountain Lodge was the best value by about 30%. My brother and I stayed 2 nights on a fishing trip and were pleasantly surprised. I was skeptical because of the reviews ( However, Kelly's responses are classic and I want to meet this person) since I hadn't stayed there in years. We had a clean, comfortable room and ZERO problems. If you are looking for "turn-down" service and mints on the pillows...you will be hard pressed to find anything in a 90 mile radius.

We had previously stayed at Monarch Mountain Lodge only in the winter, for its proximity to the ski area. We visited this summer after hearing of Carl’s Hummingbirds and it lived up to its reputation. The feeders hang just a couple feet outside the dining room’s big walls of windows, so you can really see them up close! We recommend a visit to experience large numbers of birds feeding at the same time, which you don’t often see in Colorado. Best viewing times are in the mornings and evenings, but with this many hummingbirds, any time of day is great. Our highlight was the feeder shown in our photo. Have you ever seen anything like it? So many hummingbirds at one time! Even better, it is made in Colorado—Cascade Wild Bird Feeders. Pretty cool!

Bed was comfortable. Best part of my stay. The room itself had not been dusted in months. When you picked the remote up off the cabinet where the television was located, you could see it hadn’t been dusted in a while. The coffee maker in the room did not work. I walked up to the area where they served breakfast earlier and asked someone if I could get a cuppa coffee, he looked at me and said this was the last cup and no, there isn’t any more. That was the gentleman that worked there. There was no I’m sorry we’re out of coffee or let me just put a pot on to get you some coffee. He just didn’t care and walked away. extremely poor customer service I will never go back and stay there again after that experience.

Coming in off the road we needed a good meal and the salad was one of the freshest I have had on a very long trip. Room was clean and bed was comfortable - with door open to hear the sound of the river. Spouse awoke with classic symptoms of altitude illness (Lodge is just shy of 10,000 feet of elevation) - two staff members assisted me to get her into my vehicle very early in the morning without using any stairs - to move her to a lower elevation as soon as I could - these two men were able, thoughtful and excellent problem solvers and are to be commended. Sorry I dd not get their names.

On a recent cross country trip, my wife and I stayed at Monarch Lodge for 2 nights. We had a great time, Gary and Carl and the front desk attendant did everything in their power to make us feel at home. The room was clean and comfortable. Meals were well prepared. Carl and Gary were friendly and took time to visit. Thanks again for a great 2 nights in the snow, hope to retun soon and see the wildflowers.

The staff was friendly. Other than that, it would be worth everyone's time to drive to the next town to stay. The beds were horribly uncomfortable. Pillows are lumpy. We had not hot water in our shower. To top it off, the coffee pot did not work and the lobby was vacant in the morning, so we had no help. The restaurant offers food, but it is way overpriced. The pool is very cold and the hot tubs do not work.

Where is everyone? We have seen only one staff member the entire time. There is no one at the front desk. There is zero ability to get in touch with anyone for issues. We used to love this place and now it’s a shell of what it used to be. The place has potential but we simply can’t find anyone on staff. No one came to the front desk for a long time during check in.

This hotel is terrible. The customer service basically isn’t existent, the front desk would hang up on me when I would ask for new towels. Their hot tubs didn’t even work and their pool was dirty. Lastly, there was no working ice maker on the 5th floor. I would recommend families to stay away from this failing business.
