Eventually, after arrival and some negotiations, got the room we’d booked and paid for with the view to die for! Lack of provision for lunch or dinner was a huge downside for us after days out…..the Rose and Crown down the road got the benefit and rather enthused about our regular custom! We went along with the concept of not having fresh towels every day but didn’t agree with the ethos of no regular cleaning of the bathroom. We had to keep asking for toilet rolls!! The initial setting up the shower was dangerous…3 times the head of the shower dropped out of its holder, narrowly missing my head and feet, due to the initial water pressure. Indicating to me very poor servicing. No assistance rail to aid getting in and of the bath in order to use the shower….which is potentially dangerous (an accident waiting to happen!). Did ask for, and got, a bath mat which turned out to be totally inadequate as it slipped and rucked up as the water warmed it up. Extremely difficult to regulate the water temperature at any time of the day so much so that we dreaded using the shower at all! Most mornings we were woken early by doors slamming! Soft closing doors would be so much more conducive to happy guests! If you had any issues it wasn’t obvious who you should go to as no one appeared to be in overall charge to regulate the running of the hotel, or even deal with the odd complaint or simple query. The chambermaids were of most help if we needed anything.. like the elusive toilet roll! Beautiful location! Beautiful building! Such a shame about such simple fixable imperfections!
