Pantai Inn

My wife and I stayed here 12 years ago and we had an incredible time. With that in mind we booked a 2 night stay celebrating our anniversary. We couldn’t have been more disappointed. The room is in severe need of updating. The tub was not draining and the bedroom carpet was dirty, old and smells of mold. I emailed Pantai Inn but no one responded. Unless major changes are made we will not stay here again. For the price we expected much more.

We cannot speak enough positivity about this place! The property is older but beautifully maintained, and treated with love! It’s not crazy busy, but overrun with crowds at breakfast, or in general. Its views are breathtaking!! The breakfast is delicious, with so many different things to choose from, and so fresh! Antonio and the other staff are fantastic!! We will always come back!

Wow. We did not know what to expect when we booked our hotel stay at the Pantai Inn in La Jolla. We were pleasantly surprised! The one bedroom suite was great. The hotel grounds are extremely nice and relaxing with beach views and privacy. The third floor balcony was a great family area with the spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean in La Jolla. The Continental breakfast was simple and perfect for our needs

Breakfast was very low quality. They did not even have milk for the coffee and only served junk food type breakfast. They ruined my new pants in their laundry service and took no responsiblity for it. The employees were arrogant and not service minded at all. The hotel has a good location but I would not recommend it. Overpriced with no sense of service.

Our daughter got married last weekend on the beach in La Jolla just a mile south of the Pantai Inn so the location could not have been better. We stayed in the two bedroom suite that overlooks the ocean, what a view! The suite was upgraded with a beautiful shower, kitchen, new windows and the most comfortable beds. The back door to the suite took us down to the center courtyard with a lounge area, recliners and a much needed bar. "Vaca" makes an excellent margarita (or 16)! The same courtyard leads you to a wonderful breakfast bar with a great variety of breakfast options. Hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Edwin, the hotel manager was even kind enough to shuttle us to the wedding venue due to unavailable beach parking. Understand this hotel is nearly 100 years old, so do not expect Las Vegas appointed perfection. It's 5-star for the area and any hotel of this era. Thank you for the wonderful accommodations!

Stayed for two nights based on trip advisor and other reviews. Very courteous service, we really appreciated their authentic friendly manner at check in, during our stay and at checkout. We had a king size room with partial ocean views from our bed. We slept well and found it quiet at night. The room was a good size with kitchenette with mini fridge, microwave, burners and sink, table with two chairs and wine for purchase. Bathroom is small but well appointed with tub and lots of supplies. Good size tv with ability to cast so we could catch up on our Netflix shows after long days out. The breakfast was better than the average that you get at some hotels. Complementary cookies and water and pop available in lobby. But the best part was the location. Walking distance to Scripps park and the sea lions; walk to the left along the ocean and you see the surfers; walking distance to good restaurants and shopping. We didn’t have a car and didn’t need it. Lots to see and do in the area. But if you do have a car they do have parking. And did I mention the courtyard with a view of the Pacific? We spent time there to eat our breakfast and in the afternoon having a drink. Would we stay there again? Definitely and we are looking forward to going back when we are in San Diego again for my husband’s annual conference.

The Pantai Inn was a real disappointment on our recent visit to San Diego. We've visited the city several times and and these were the worst accommodations we've ever experienced. In fact, we travel a lot and can't recall ever staying in any place this outdated. Firstly, don't assume the photos you see of your room selection are representative of what you will get. We booked a 2 bedroom, oceanfront suite and the photos shown were lovely accommodations. What we were placed in was a joke. Outdated, worn, tropical-themed furnishings that looked like they had been there since the 1970s, a tiny bathroom with no room to even place your belongings beside the sink, exposed pipes under the sink, peeling paint on the wood, broken door stops, worn bed coverings, and the 'extra' blanket was an old, worn coverlet. The bedrooms were so small you couldn't even place a medium-sized suitcase on the luggage rack and set it up in the bedroom. If you did, you couldn't walk around the bed. The bedrooms and bathroom were minuscule. A joke compared to the photos shown on their website. No maid service unless you request it. This Inn is need of a massive update and more upfront advertising. Ask for photos of the 'actual' room you will be given. This trip was a graduation gift and our lodging couldn't have been more disappointing. The only reason the Inn gets 3 stars is that the employees were friendly, the breakfast buffet was nice, and the location is lovely. We would NEVER stay there again.

The decor was very unique and the beds were really comfy! There were 2 bottles of wine on the table( to purchase) but no wine glasses could be found. The blinds in the living area and bedroom did not close all the way so there was no privacy. Also when units near us were being cleaned the cleaners were extremely noisy- talking loudly and constantly banging doors. Our view was fantastic and the breakfasts had a great variety and were delicious. Our patio was right outside another unit’s bedroom window( picture window) so again no privacy! I think we would stay here again however because of the location.
