Jennifer Rivera-Nichols 1/5 just now on Google I arrived with my mom to check in at this worst San Diego hostel at 1am...ridiculously exhausted. My mom had just paid to park 2 blocks away and we carried armfuls of belongings with us to the hostel. When we arrived, the clerk was like, ”Reservation?” like my mom was speaking Greek. She said nothing and just walked away. Minute later the owner came in and told my mom that I was not allowed to stay there because I'm under 18. She was talking to my mom like a bully. My mom explained to the owner that our room was already paid for, that she had booked it thru hotels.com as a minor + adult, and that it was 1am already...we're exhausted and where else are we gonna get a room at that hour. I kept falling asleep on their staircase during this time because I was so tired. The lady was arguing with my mom about their rules. Meanwhile, the clerk keeps saying to my mom, ”She's just trying to help you.” That's a lie. If they wanted to help, they could have...but they did not. After a heated conversation, the owner says she will allow me to stay. I was relieved. Then 3 seconds later I just heard her tell my mom, ”Nevermind. I don't like your attitude. You need to get off my property.” WTH Really? This mean lady was gaslighting my mom, bullying her, and was mad at us for just for walking thru the door. She could have approached my mom saying, ”Hi, I'm So-and-So, the owner. It looks like there is a discrepancy with your booking. Because we have shared bathrooms here, we don't allow children. I know it's 1am, and hearing this is really stressful, but let's see what we can do to figure this out. Would you be able to accompany your daughter to the bathroom?” Instead she treated my mom really bad like she had done something wrong. We've stayed at plenty of hostels. None of them had a policy saying I could not be there. I was starting to feel really scared that I would not have a place to sleep since I heard my mom on the phone trying to find a new hotel. They were all full or $300. This Gaslamp Hostel owner is anti-children, anti-family, and made me feel like I had caused my mom so much hassle :-( After we wasted an hour trying to check in and get our money back, I tried to cheer my mom up. I was hugging her while she sat on the phone with hotels.com. I told her I could sleep in the car so she would not have to spend more money or be more stressed, but my mom said it's not safe to sleep in the car, and she didn't know where we could park to do that anyway. My mom was crying when we left. We ended up sleeping in a gross motel smoking room. I saw a bug on the table when we walked in. The owner of this cheap San Diego hotel is not a human being. The hotel is located in the city center. In the gas lamp block, there are many red men and women every day. There are very few Chinese people. Many foreigners should come to vacation. After paying for Ctrip, they will have to pay the resort fee after check-in, which is about 40 dollars a night. But the other us grant, which is relatively resident, has a price/performance ratio and will not stay in this hotel. As a hotel, professionalism is a little lacking. The facilities are just like American hotels. Basically, all of them need to be equipped and there is no hot water bottle.

Location was excellent for concert at Petco Park, took Uber and obviously was longer due to concert influx realized take a lime lite would have been faster. Walking expect 25-30 min and going up hill. Service was good at check -in , first night found roaches 🪳 under and around fridge area! Went to lobby for possible accommodations , encountered male fair skin and colored eyes, said they were from the weather (🙄) didn’t seem surprised to hear there were roaches in our room, asked if we can switch rooms- he said they were fully booked and didn’t have anything available which I didn’t even see him check. At this point couldn’t find room to check out for the weekend and left as is. Told cleaning lady that evening and she shared a roach spray to spray in infected area. We didn’t not feel comfortable in this environment and left our snacks and food in bags and placed luggage on our beds and desk to avoid roaches from getting in. Additionally had requested towels and when asked for 4 same lobbyist said 4 was pushing it and only handing two towels even though I had booked two double Queen rooms for 8 people!! Second room has stains on bed sheets and pillows, unsure what exactly it was but looked like blood. Friend got rash on arm and suspected bed bugs, checked sheets and luckily didn’t find any. Bathroom sink had broken handle that came off when lifted. Breakfast was good- early hours 7:30-8:30 , doors closed by 8:25 and you cannot take food out. But decent has French toast, bagels, cereal, oatmeal and juices. Parking was small but have additional parking below , just have to walk around the corner.

The hotel is in a very good location, close to the promenade and the old town. Comfortable bath and room. Good swimming pool. At the entrance they gave a voucher for kayaking or biking for an hour. Also vouchers for two bottles of water. The situation that happened to us, the room was with the smell of dampness, that it was impossible to breathe, after a complaint it was quickly changed to us.

Go to the Santa Pe station for ten minutes and Little Italy for two minutes. Little Italy has a lot to eat, and it is only 15 minutes to walk to the gas street five-street bar street, which is especially convenient! Room Wi-Fi is not connected to the Internet, you have to go to the kitchen to charge the Internet.

Porto Vista is an affordable hotel with killer breakfast in a good location. However, they have an ongoing plumbing problem. The toilet didn’t flush properly during my last 2 stays within a couple of weeks. When I reported it and request a different room, the receptionist said no and told me to wait until a maintenance person determines whether it is repairable or not. After about an hour, the same receptionist said it was fixed. Alas, it wasn’t. So, my stay was not as pleasant as it could have been.

The price/performance ratio is relatively good. The front desk service is very good. I have to catch a flight at 4 o'clock in the morning and they can help call a taxi. This is a great help for a person who cannot take a taxi.

Our experience at this hotel was great, from checkin to follow up! We only stayed one night, but all of stay, plus our hurried departure, went very smoothly. Front desk reception is very welcoming. Our room was OK - I believe this is an older hotel, because the bathrooms are tiny. The room was impeccably clean. On our departure morning, we arrived at the restaurant and were greeted by Alice. She told us the price of the buffet breakfast was $20. per person, but asked if we were Marriott members. She took the time to go to the desk and check our status, and returned to tell us that our breakfast buffet was free. (Don't miss being greeted by Alice!). The buffet was much better than those you might experience at other hotel chains, and service was excellent - Alice was overseeing. We left in a rush, and I realized when we got to the airport that I had left my sweater. I called when we returned home and talked to Midge at Reception. Midge immediately put me on hold, and returned to say she had found the sweater and would mail it back to me. (Thanks to executive housekeeper Carina). We also received a personal email from Julie after our return, thanking us for staying with them. This hotel is just off a very busy Interstate, but is a real oasis. Again, the reception staff was most helpful to recommend restaurants nearby. You will feel like a very special person at the hands of the Sheraton staff.

It used to be a Comfort Inn that we have always stayed at for over 10 years but now a Best Western. Very nice upgrades, great and friendly staff, love the location, A good place to stay. Close to downtown, Old Town, Zoo, and 5 minutes to the beach and shopping and golf just 5 minutes away also.

It was our 30 year anniversary . We wanted to walk down memory lane . Doubletree Hilton was the perfect place to do so . The trolley is like 100 ft from the hotel , wow !!!! We were there for 4 days and we only spent $12 dollars on transportation the whole time . We went to the seaport village , old San Diego village , San Diego zoo , little Italy , the can even take you near to the gondola rides . This hotel is pet , kid , business , couple friendly . Restaurants , FedEx , food stores , right outside . Indoor outdoor pool , gym , jacuzzi , Starbucks . Isabella is an awesome receptionist !!! Knowledgeable , friendly . This hotel is carefully paced to give you the best indulgence of the area . Great job guys !!!!
