Regency Torviscas Apartments and Suites

Having read some of the recent reviews of the Regency Club it has left me wondering if we stayed at the same place as our 6 night stay from the 9th Jan was brilliant! We stayed in a ground floor one bed apartment with direct access to the pool from the terrace which was great, the apartment was clean and the beds really comfy. Unlike some other guests experience, we had regular cleaners in and an abundance of fresh towels. Yes the bathroom could do with some TLC as the shower tray was very springy at one end and some of the tiling was chipped. Never a problem getting sunbeds, we found the pool to be clean although the jacuzzi did look a little grubby one day. We went out every night so can't comment on the evening entertainment, the reception staff were friendly as were the supermarket staff. The bakery (when open) was lovely aswell. 10-15 minute walk down to the bars and restaurants, as stated in other reviews a taxi back is around 5 euros. I wouldn't recommend this accommodation to someone who isn't fully mobile.

We booked last minute but after reading some of the reviews we weee worried about what we would find on arrival. 1. Only one entry & exit which is reception, meaning if you’re staying in a higher numbered apartment it’s a long walk in & out to your apartment, there is a gate at the far end of the complex but this was always locked. I understand that this could be for security but surely it could have a card operated lock, similar to the ones used to gain entry to your room. 2. Lots of steps and ramps leading to the upper floor apartments, we asked for an apartment on the ground floor but was told that we should have booked a premium apartment, this wasn’t an option when booking, (I booked through ******* and the option to book premium was not available ) I then asked if we could upgrade & was just told by the receptionist that they were fully booked. A couple of days in to our stay a large party of school children arrived and there didn’t seem to be many adults supervising them. One evening we came back around 9:30pm & there were a few of them in one of the pools, despite the fact that there were notices saying use of the pools was restricted to certain hours during the day & closing at 6pm, this happened on a couple of occasions. 3. The complex is in a good location, close to restaurants, bars & shops, also a short walk to the beach & the centre of Los Cristianos. 4. The food was ok, we stayed half board, the evening meal was better than the breakfast. 5. Our apartment was one of the higher numbered ones, so quite a trek to reach & up 2 lots of steps or a very steep ramp, but once there it was ok, rather dated but had everything we needed & you don’t go on holiday to sit in your room all the time, also the bed was placed at such an angle that it was impossible to open the wardrobe door, we had to move it to gain access and then after the cleaner had been it had been moved back to the original location, so we had to constantly move it if we wanted to access the wardrobe. We had quite a large balcony which was a plus as it had the sun all day. If visiting again we would probably stay room only & ask before arrival for a lower numbered apartment.

We stayed at the El Marques for 2 weeks in early September 2023. we founfd the reception staff, domestic staff and maintenance staff friendly and efficient. The apartment and communal areas were in good decorative order, the furnishings in good order. The area was quiet at night , so satisfied on those aspects Several of the pool staff spent their time looking at their phone for long periods, rather than keeping a constant eye on the children or other swimmers. We used the restaurant on two evenings. the first time we chose the special of the night which was duck in an orange sauce, which was as tough as old boots. A waiter asked how our meal was and when we told him this his reply was ” well its not chicken”. When we asked for the bill we were presented with the wrong one! After a week we decided to give it another chance. The dining room opens for evening meals at 18.45, and we arrived at 19. 20 hours. There were no customers in the dining room no sign or sound of the staff. After 10 minutes, still no staff, so we got up and left. Basically the staff in the restaurant had a couldn't care less attitude. However there are plenty of excellent restaurants. We ate out every night and our favourites were El Meson, Fettuccini In, and the restaurant at Las Rosas ( at the end of the road by El Marques. Our other favourite was Pescadore down in Los Gigantes. we walked down there, but for health reasons used to taxi up Cardiac Hill.

The hotel is popular, large, noisy, conveniently located. Our acquaintance with the hotel began with a negative note. We booked a room for 3 people. We got to the hotel at 2 am, fortunately the reception is open 24 hours a day. The issued room greeted us with cockroaches! The reception was not very willing to change us, saying that there were not many places, but they gave us a room on the 3rd floor with a good view, where you can see the sea at the edge. But there was only enough linen for 2 people in the room. Being tired, we divided 2 sets into 3 and in the morning returned to the reception asking for a third set. However, at the reception they decided to give us another spacious room in the neighboring 2-story buildings with a roof terrace. Which, in principle, suited us. It turned out to be not so bad, despite the fact that the hotel is not new and is quite noisy. The rooms are spacious, there is an equipped kitchen, the noise from the street was not very annoying. Cleaning several times a week. The location of the hotel is good, there is a place to park your rental car (after a little searching for a free space), there are large shops around the corner, a bus stop, the beach is 5-7 minutes on foot. We had a good rest! The price basically corresponds to the level. I won’t say anything about food, because... taken without food.

The apartment was pretty good and had the basics like a small kitchen, washing machine, etc. It could definitely use some renovation, but overall everything was fine. I was on the 8th floor and the view from the balcony was really nice. There is also a rooftop terrace which is great. Location is good, you can easily walk to the farmer’s market and city centre, and there is also a bus stop in front of the building.
