Hotel Bahia del Sol

Where do I start. It might read a bit like War & Peace. This is not a whinge or a moan. Wait until the last paragraph, it will blow your mind. I have tried to keep this an objective and truly honest review of the Bahia Del Sol Hotel, its staff, ammenties, rooms and food. Delusions of grandeur spring to mind. At best a 3 star, at worst a 2 star. My wife and I arrived here on the 1st of September 2024, a day before our wedding anniversary. The only positive thing to happen on the whole trip was the unexpected upgrade of our room from a Quadruple to a Suite. We asked for a kettle on the first day. 6 days in...no kettle. There is a distinct smell of sewage that wofts through the hotel on a daily basis from the street outside. Staff can be friendly if they apply themselves, but most are unattentive and seem put out if you even ask what seems the most trivial on things. Its like they don't want to be there and can't wait to finish and go home. Remember the saying 'Service with a Smile'...It's doesn't exist here. Food and amenities are below average for what they tout as a 4 star establishment. Menu variety is limited and repetitive on a daily basis. Our upgraded room is lovely. Wi-fi is either terribly slow, and I mean slow or non existent. I ended up paying for data roaming as an extra with our provider. It was either that, or acquire a couple of carrier pigeons. We have stayed in various hotels in Santa Ponsa over the years and this is by far the worst. We stayed all inclusive, but were told we would have to pay to use the Skybar on the 6th floor. Why?? Whats the difference between getting drinks at the main bar or the Skybar apart from 6 floors. Maybe you have to pay for the privilege of drinking at altitude? Who knows, your guess is as good as mine. On our previous visits to Santa Ponsa we have stayed in the likes of H10 and the Rey Don Jaime, and would have stayed in either one if not fully booked. Both of which put the Hotel Bahia Del Sol to shame in every way from food, staff, accommodation, amenities and entertainment. The latter of which does not exist in the Bahia Del Sol. It has the potential to be so much more, but it seems, a lack of enthusiasm and leadership from hotel management is taking its toll on staff morale and motivation. Don't approach staff about trivial things, like eggs to have with your salad at lunch or dinner as we encountered 3 times whilst here. There was me thinking eggs were a staple, along with milk and butter, how wrong I was. Bread stale. Soup was on intermittently. I think it all depended on whether the chef on at the time was in his or her happy place. Good customer service within the hospitality sector can be hard to achieve and it can sometimes seem like a lonely career choice. Believe me, both my wife and I worked in it. The hotel is an average hotel. Not been the best for families with children. The entertainer has done her best to keep everyone entertained with the budget she clearly has. Using YouTube advertised as the mini disco but the younger children loved it and she was very friendly and always polite and smiling. She is a credit to the hotel. The hotel is more for adults/couples with the sauna and gym facilities no outdoor play are for children. The hotel would benefit from a pool table/table tennis etc. Food is average again not good for children. A good selection of salads/deserts but the food serving area is very small for the amount of guests sometimes queuing out the door. The reviews we read were that the staff were rude but far from it. They have been polite and helpful. Bar staff get to know the guests to know their drink orders and often collecting glasses/cups to keep every where tidy. Snacks on the bar advertised as a snack bar but it is literally a few bar snacks - nuts crisps bread meats and cheese. Not the staff who are rude it's the guests. Walking through you....not apologising....trying to push into the long ques but then not liking being told to go to the back. Just no excuse not to have any manners. The pools are good sizes my son loved the outdoor and indoor pool. Not overly busy. Fight for sunbeds in the morning but we always went down just before breakfast (9.30ish) and found one or two or just sat in the outdoor area on seats. Lots of sunbeds towards the end of our holiday when a majority of people went home. Not an issue for us as they have plenty of seats in the outdoor area shaded or sunny. Some people claim sunbeds early morning then don't return till late afternoon which is frustrating for those with children who need the shade. Cleaners are good at their jobs. Rooms are cleaned well with fresh bedding and towels when needed. They do only knock once and if you don't answer they just open the door. Overall a good hotel but not very child friendly more of an adult/couples hotel.

Hotel lovey staff very friendly and helpful nothing too much trouble . Food very good and family friendly . Hotel situated in easy reach of local shops , beach and main town good selection of shops ,restaurants and bars. Also excursions can be booked from the hotel .

After reading all the review's we were a little bit spectacle about arriving to this hotel. But we had the best time, lovely hotel lovely views very clean and lovely staff . We stayed for four nights and we had the best time. I would definitely return to this hotel. The only little downside was the food choices. What we found was great that you could get drinks the whole time you were there and you pay your bill at the end when you check out.

I nearly changed to a different hotel after reading the reviews but I'm so glad I didn't. Loved every minute of the holiday. Hotel was fantastic and the staff, especially Lili on reception and Juan in the dining area were simply fantastic. They were both so lovely and accomodating. We witnessed several guests being rather rude to the staff and i would simply say if you treat people nicely it has a boomerang effect. Yes there weren't many sunbeds around the pool however if guests didn't put their towels out at 6 30am and leave them there all day then there would be enough to go around. The rooms were spacious and clean just lacking in tea and coffee facilities. Food was great and we all especially enjoyed the Thai night. Rooftop terrace an absolute must as the views and atmosphere amazing. Location couldn't be better. A fantastic place to stay for the price and will definitely be returning. Highly recommend.
