We stayed in Room 300, "Hotaruya," which was clearly designated as a non-smoking room. However, the bathroom had a strong residual smell of smoke, which even spread into the inner part of the room. During check-in, when inspecting the room, I immediately pointed this out to the reception staff, but they insisted they couldn’t smell anything. After dinner, still finding the smell unbearable, I went down to the front desk to request further action. The staff assured me they would spend an hour deodorizing the room. Unfortunately, the results were ineffective, confirming that the smoke odor was not minor and persisted throughout the night, leaving me feeling nauseous at times. Even if a previous guest was a heavy smoker, please thoroughly inspect and improve the winter ventilation system in your bathrooms. One staff member claimed not to notice the smell, while another spent an hour trying to remove it with no success. I trust you can check your records to see if anyone smoked in this room, especially since you made it clear during check-in that smoking in a non-smoking room would result in a fine. This shouldn’t be an issue for the next guest—especially when it’s been explicitly pointed out. I urge your staff to take such concerns seriously. At the very least, they could remove their masks to verify the smell themselves or ask a non-smoking colleague to confirm.

We only had 1 night to stay in this beautiful paradise 🥲🤍 It was the best stay of our 10 day trip in Japan and we would definitely be back to stay here again 🤍 Location: in the Jozankei Onsen town that’s about an hour + out of Sapporo. Honestly if you’re in a group, just book a cab out, it was about $80++ for 3 of us! Otherwise remember to book the Onsen bus shuttle early in advance 🥹 Area around Onsen is nothing much besides other Onsen houses, a small cafe and other smol tourist picture spots. Back to the Ryokan: this was my first experience being in one and I’m so glad I chose this place! Mum and sister throughly enjoyed it as well, using our in room Onsen ( there’s 2!) and also the shared common Onsen with an outdoor facing the snow too ❄️☃️♨️ Service:The staff was extremely polite and efficient, seeing the reviews of them being rude was kinda uncalled for. They were nothing but kind and attentive. It is a very quiet and peaceful place , I understand the need for all guests to be maintain the atmosphere too. Food: amazing, one of the best meals I’ve had in Japan so far ♥️ the pictures below speaks for itself 🥹 private dining room to enjoy the view too🏔️ Loved small touches too like the mikimoto soaps , Dyson hair dryers ( in the public Onsen) And the chopstick souvenirs 🥹 I can’t wait to come back here again with my partner 🤍

Good onsen, sweet atmosphere, Japanese style breakfast is delicious.

The hotel is very satisfactory, the room is large, and there is a private bath. If I remember the name correctly, Miss Gaoqiao is very cute and very patient to introduce us. I will come again if I have the chance.

The rooms are nice. I came during the fall foliage season and the view was great. The welcome food, Sablé, was very tasty. The large bath was average.

I really like this hot spring hotel, the stay experience is great. There is also a free bar in the evening. The old man speaks English very well and is very good at chatting👍🏻. Their specialty cocktails are delicious, their dinners are delicious, and their breakfasts are delicious.

The room was great! There was a small hot spring in the room, which was very comfortable. After soaking, my skin felt smooth and comfortable. The big pool was also very good, and the open-air hot spring was even better. Be sure to order breakfast and dinner, the kaiseki cuisine will not disappoint you.

I traveled with my sister, and it was a very satisfying trip in every way. The location, cleanliness, and even the delicious breakfast were all very satisfying. I will book this hotel again next time! Highly recommended!

It was the best choice among my Hokkaido travel itineraries. This is a place where the facilities and services are truly worth every penny. Next time I come to Hokkaido, I will definitely come back. Everyone was nice and kind, and I was especially touched by the chopsticks I received as a gift.

The room facilities are a bit old. But the other experiences are great! The hot spring outside the room is very nice, and the drinks in the refrigerator are free! The grandpa who served breakfast was also very enthusiastic.

The hotel's service, room environment, and food are all great! I have stayed in many hot spring hotels, and this one has given me the best experience so far. The staff are extremely friendly! This is a hotel I would recommend to my friends! There are few hotel rooms, so the stay is very quiet and comfortable. Privacy is also very good. All kinds of afternoon tea and evening bar are free. 1/The room is very quiet, and the refrigerator in the room is full of drinks (Japanese sake, beer, oolong tea, juice) 2/I have to say that the service of the First Baoting Club is amazing, with full details, from the restaurant's full-room menu, to the lobby bar's free wine list, and even to the chopsticks for commemoration after the meal and the toiletries set after the stay, all are 💯. 3/Highly recommended: After checking in, take the key to the hotel's own ice cream shop across the street, and you can eat a very memorable ice cream for free (better than Haagen-Dazs) 4/After checking in, you can also arrange a car to send you to the next hotel. Summary: Next time you come to Jozankei, you don't have to stay in four hotels, just stay in the club, no burden, worry-free and easy.
