Excellent location, friendly staff. Lots of choice for breakfast.

This is one of the few hotels in Gambia that has pools just about everywhere. Most rooms are swim up pool rooms but if you fancy a room without a pool don't worry as the main pool event will not disappoint,you will find it located right next to the tropical grass roofed restaurant which serves one of the best breakfasts in Gambia and equally as good snacks and first rate evening food. The intimate well looked after beach is just a step away from both the pool and restaurant and has lots of sunloungers and soft mattresses so you can kick of your sliders and lay back and relax here with a cocktail or too. Even better there is no traders hassling you here, all traders must stay on the sand and only engage onthe customers request. This hotel is well worth the visit the rooms are big and comfortable. The 4 poster beds come with mosquito nets and being diabetic and a mozzi magnet I'm pleased to say I didn't get a single bite during my 10 night stay. Iv been to many hotels in Gambia and this one definitely deserves a second visit. It's great for the mobility challenged. All the staff are happy to help and the setting is traditionally intermate. Whether you are wanting a romantic getaway or traveling solo you will love this place

We’ve just spent a week at Kombo as a family of 4. We had a great time - Victor and the team are doing a great job ensuring that you have everything you need for a pleasant stay. The rooms are spacious and very clean - comfy bed and a hot power shower. The breakfast has a vast amount of choice. The lunches and dinner also offer good choice and the meals we had were good - no complaints at all. We have visited kombo many times over the past 20 years and the new look is great - they have really lifted the hotel from a tired look to a vibrant and fresh hotel. The slides are great fun and safety well managed. Will be back for our next break away. Thanks to the kombo team

This was my first trip to The Gambia and it was literally a first trip whereby I tripped over, broke and cracked my two front teeth after falling flat on my face! After exiting the restroom located within the foyer. I tripped over a metal frame positioned at ground level. Not to the same degree as me, I know that other guests have had near experiences when leaving this restroom (see picture. I shudder to imagine what would have happened if this had been an elderly person or a parent with a baby. It is for several reasons that I would never recommend this hotel: A) No matter the nation, health and safety should always come first and be the priority in any hotel establishment. I cannot even begin to count the number of times I have heard someone say, ”Well, this is Africa.” No justification! After my experience, no precautions were made to ensure that other guests wouldn't have the same experience. In fact, the hotel manager wrote: ‘It is important to note that the hotel never have any reported incident from any guest, neither staff since the establishment of this resort in 2020’. The fact that I experienced it and reported it does not imply that no one else has ever tripped or had near miss experiences, even though you may not have had any reports. B) The general manager has some serious communication problems (once you manage to find him), such as a lack of empathy and an inability to listen to others. I am unable to be name him owing to legal concerns, but his middle name should be ”Avoidance.” C) Periods of no power occur frequently. This happened almost every night during our stay since their generator shuts down due to an overload of power and overheating. One evening, as my mother and I were getting ready for an event, we had to use our cell phone lights as a guide. Moreover, when this happens, there isn't any water available for a shower. Also, no functioning primary shower head, had to utilise the hose, whenever there was water available. D) One could not have a private moment since the bathroom door would not stay closed. Thank goodness my mum was with me. E) Someone managed to use their hotel room key to get into our room one night (mistakenly), the lock had to be changed. Yes, that did in fact occur! F) Though I wasn't expecting the Ritz, I would have expected it too at least be kept up, despite the attractive photographs on the website. This review is from a sincere individual. Though I don't usually post reviews, I felt compelled to write this review because I don't want anyone to experience what I did or am currently experiencing. I also regret that I was unable to shorten my stay. I am utterly disappointed because this was also my first trip to West Africa!

Just had a wonderful 11 nights here rooms comfortable and spacious fantastic shower had a room at the back overlooking the trees was a little disappoointed with the veiw at first but not for long the most magnificent birds I've ever seen and the monkeys twice a day

There is nothing I did not love about this place. It started off with a room change to meet our needs, so whilst we waited for this to take place we tried the cocktails. The staff are impeccable and all go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible, all of them. Room cleaning staff, bar & restaurant staff, gardeners, pool attendants & life guards, reception, customer services, cooks, chefs and even management. The rooms are clean, bright and in good taste with the biggest and most comfortable bed. The pools.....ahhh. What can I say about the pools, there are thousands of them. From swim up pools to your room, a deep blue main pool and the lovely long pool alongside block 400's (where we stayed). Cleaned daily and kept in excellent and safe condition. You just wanna jump in, your just gotta jump in. The food was excellent too. Buffet breakfast with my own style pancakes to order (thank you Edward). Evening meals with very generous portions. Al la carte for the first few days then changed to buffet once the hotel became fuller. Topped off with a good dose of hotel entertainment and yes you guessed it more cocktails. A big shout goes out to Ibrahim who is the best bar Cocktail Maker in the World. He made us the best Long Island Ice Tea's & Pina Colada's you could ever wish for. Finally a big thank you to Yankuba who treated us like family from the very beginning and helped me out with a problem with ease and integrity even after I had returned home. We had an amazing stay in Gambia. The Hotel is modern and novel, but still with lots of african art ornaments decorated. It was very clean everywhere! We felt very comfortable in our apartment. We missed nothing. We were amazed about the attentive and friendly staff and also about the service at beach. We enjoyed especially the african music in the evening which played two times a week. Not far from the hotel are shops where can buy the local products. In Serekunda are nice bars and clubs which is reachable by taxi in a few minutes. It's possible to book trips in the hotel. We did the Senegal Safari and the makasutu forest tour which was very nice. I went also to Banjul which was very nice and authentic. We highly recommend this Hotel and would love to come back again. The staff were great very helpful and nothing was too much bother. There was a mix up about the room when we got there, we booked a twin bed but got a double bed. It was sorted by the next day which was really nice. The Wi-Fi definitely needs to be improved. When we first got there it was ok but when we moved to the top floor we couldn’t get any wi-fi in the room. The rooms are basic, the beds are HARD and no tv but to be honest I didn’t miss the tv. Would I stay again?? Yes-because the price was good/location. No-it would be nice to try others hotels on Paradise Beach and the bed was so hard.
