The establishment is just as you'd expect from the photos posted, with tasteful, sophisticated, individualized room decor. It's a far cry from the cold, impersonal chain hotels. The building and rooms are a perfect combination of authenticity and modernity. The staff are charming, attentive, caring and hyper-responsive. Perfect check-in and check-out. Great location, good soundproofing, very good bedding; however, I deplore the 2 single beds for a couple. Reasons for the 3 out of 5 rating: you get the impression that a lot of attention has been paid to the aesthetics of the rooms (which we loved), but there's a real lack of storage space, which is almost non-existent; this is still acceptable for our 2 nights, but I won't be coming back for a longer stay, and therefore with more belongings. Another black mark is the breakfast: it's taken in the bakery lounge on the first floor. While the RM Guesthouse is intended to be a cocoon, the bakery room is certainly bright and clean, but not up to scratch. What's more, the choices are relatively limited: why not a formula with a choice of hot beverage (and not just coffee), a viennoiserie to choose from (and not just croissants), etc.? In my hotel choices, breakfast is an important element, and as explained, in my opinion it's a long way from what an establishment like the RM Guesthouse should offer.

One of the nicest hotels I have stayed at over many years in Europe. My opinion is not because of a spectacular setting or historic site but a very nice hotel only a short walk to the centre of town and right beside a park. The centre of town was surprising as it was very nice and vibrant. Our room was extremely large, there was a third bed we did no need. Tons of amenities like toothbrush…. Very clean and bright. A good breakfast with lots of choice. They helped store our bike for us. Staff were helpful and friendly.

We booked this hotel not knowing much about it from the U.S. we are staying 19 days and it is a wonderful hotel. The people are very nice and professional. The room is very basic like we were looking for and very clean. The breakfast has a great variety of breads and fruit with eggs and sausages. The coffee is very good with a wide variety. I would recommend this to anyone that doesn’t need a fancy place to stay with great service and clean rooms. Thank you Hotel Litau for a great stay.

This is a 3-star hotel masquerading as a 4-star hotel. The units that were recently renovated got the landlord special: the doorknobs were falling off the bathroom door, the A/C just didn’t work (the staff insisted it did, but we needed to open the window regardless), and the shower doesn’t have a proper barrier so water gets literally everywhere despite your best efforts. The rooms are tiny giving you no space to get takeout or eat a snack. There are plenty of tables downstairs and poolside but the staff insist you cannot bring outside food even though there is no restaurant using those tables and the tables have no use outside of breakfast. The rooms are expensive for the location and amenities. There is a pool but honestly you don’t come to Portugal to swim in a hotel pool. I’ve stayed at many hotels and I’ve never had a worse experience at a so-called “4-star” hotel. At least with 3 star hotels they’re cheaper and you know what you’re getting. We actually had a better stay at another local hotel last week. A large family suite with powerful air conditioning for far less than this tiny double bed room with a vent that blows oddly humid and slightly cool air.

One of my favorite hotels in one of my favorite beach. Although not new anymore and you can see it, very friendly staff, very good breakfast and very nice and clean rooms. The room with the jacuzzi in the balcony is just a delight

Location is wonderful, and so is the whole building and surroundings. But comparing price/quality there is really something missing. We spent 3 nights in weekend High season, but there was no management at all.We had to wait more than 3 hours before we could have our room, although we send a mail to ask for an earlier check in than 16.00. Not possible, we have to waited till 16.15 . We have been in many 5 stars places all over the world, but never had this situation. Thanks to Mr Joao de Sousa we we're calm down. He treated and helped us later with everything, and that made our stay good. Our superior terras room was located perfect, clean and cool, but the decoration is for that price some dated. The bathroom very small and not really comfortable. In the adults pool only three umbrellas, to protect all the guests from the sun. sunbeds we're not very clean, and the pool towels, is really not done, in a 5 star Hotel member of the Leading hotels of the world. The quality of the breakfast was 3 stars, only 2 sorts of unripe fruit, and no fresh bread at all. We have had diner several times, at the fantastic Terras outside, but please put mores covering to protect people for the extreme sunburning. quality of the food was good, specially my fish was perfect prepared, and again I say, the very kind service of Mr Joao, David, and several other members of the restaurant was really touching. They did their job more than fantastic. So overall, the place has so many strong assets, location, building, history, surroundings, but some for us important details we're missing, and the feeling that there was no management to talk with, but the location is Portugal on it's best! Breathtaking location with magnificent views of the Setubal peninsula. One of the best Pousadas of Portugal. A ”must-stay”. Very professional service and superb service. Great room at moderate price. Excellent breakfast.

I have just returned from this hotel and I could not fault it in regard to the hotel cleanliness and hospitality. Most of the hotel staff have good English and are there if you need any help or if you need to order a cab. The continental breakfast was lovely with lots of food on offer. Good beer and lovely seating area around the pool for rest and a chill. Do not buy food as an evening meal as these are just ready meal and are not nice, no fresh food prepared here. The reason why I gave it 4 stars is that the hotel is in the middle of no where. There are no convenience shops, no bus routes, no trains. If you need to go some where or go out for the day you need to order a cab/taxi. The hotel is on the main motorway so you are unable to walk anywhere as it is dangerous. If you are just needing a rest and are not planning on going out of the hotel it's highly recommended but for sight seeing of Setubal, I would try a different hotel unless you have spare money for cabs.

Also below CV19-Bedingungen I expect a hotel that adheres to the facade with four stars to a lot more. Every morning the same processes, coffee in ToGo cups in a paper bag together with a apple and wooden knife, incrusted ”sandwich” in alufolium with always the same coating ( disk cheese disk cooks******e dry without butter). With some luck it managed to not shake the coffee and everything is dry. But this a piece of fruit is now beautifully warm. Or it's all swept and the day and breakfast is ”saturated”. No trace of a table, a normal cup, a normal beet etc. Eating from the hotel kitchen is unfortunately not worth the price. Carpaccio is beautifully made and fully frozen in the middle, so fresh is different. The hamburger on the one hand is “mini” and in the dry bread that falls out when looking (13€) are a joke, unfortunately not funny. Bach now several stays, forcefully as everything else is closed, I will change immediately as soon as alternatives are available. Hotel itself is clean new and modernly furnished, but dues is destroyed by the circumstances described above DANGER!!!!!
