South View Lodges

This  location ticked all our boxes when booking: fishing holiday for husband's 50th, relaxing for me with hot tub and quiet location. Jill and Andrew were welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble (not that we had many queries). First let me stay considering it is so close to Exeter. Although opened 2 years ago, the decor was as pristine as the website images. Both bedrooms were beautifully decorated, with comfy beds and en-suite bathrooms and had underfloor heating throughout the property. The lounge, dining area and kitchen were all nicely decorated and had everything that you needed for the comforts from home. The outside seating  and hot tub were undercover so even when it did rain, we could enjoy it still.  The fishing was everything my husband hoped for, catching 10+ fish each day.  And to add to our enjoyment, we had alpacas in the field next to us. They came to watch us each day and we took advantage to go feed them one day: the boys, the girls and the babies. All too cute, and an Devon Show Awarding male as well! A treat. A great holiday and everything we wanted from it!

Hosts are more than welcoming. We had a wonderful time with our family especially in the hot tub. Very quiet, clean, warm and relaxing. Will be back again with the fishing rods!

We booked this lodge to celebrate our mothers 50th birthday! A beautiful gem in the woods! We enjoyed our weekend away with laughs and bubbles in the hot tub and then sat near the fire in the evenings. If you are looking to book a relaxing weekend with the girls, this is definitely the right place.

An absolutely wonderful place to stay, the owners Jill and Andrew are so helpful and friendly and they have created a beautiful place to stay. Lodges are high spec with fast Wi-Fi and each of them is by a lake. Fishing is available but it definitely is not solely based around fishing and not all guests do. We did and the fishing was really good with some lovely fish. Location is really peaceful but with Exeter within easy reach to explore - local taxi firm recommended by the owners was brilliant. We loved it so much we have booked again for next year!

We have just returned from a week's stay at Heron lodge with our boys. From the moment we arrived we knew we had picked the perfect place! The backdrop was stunning with a lovely view of the lake and a field to our left with alpacas roaming around! The lodge itself was immaculate and the homemade scones were delicious! Jill and Andrew were perfect hosts and on our second day we were able to feed the alpacas which my teenage sons really enjoyed along with meeting their three gorgeous dogs. The site itself was very peaceful and we all really enjoyed the hottub. If you enjoy a spot of fishing the lake was amazing and having access right outside the lodge was perfect! With every mod con the lodge really catered for all our needs and the washing machine came in very handy! We had a very hot week in Devon but only being half an hours drive from Exmouth beach made it a great stay! We will definitely be returning and would like to experience a winter stay! We booked SVL for our wedding stay as we got married locally. Myself and the bridal party stayed Friday night and got ready at south view on the Friday! Myself my new husband and our 3 year old daughter then stayed until Tuesday in willow lodge. Willow is the perfect size for a bridal party to get ready with everything you would need! The site is clean tidy and very peaceful. What really makes South view special is the family that own and run it! Jill and her family are the most welcoming friendly and passionate people with the guests at the forefront of everything they do! They can’t do enough for you and treat you like family not just a paying customer! It’s a gem of a find and we can’t recommend it enough! All our friends and family that popped in couldn’t believe how lovely and peaceful it was and how lovely the owners are! We will certainly be back! Thank you again ♥️

Thank goodness the weather was so awful as it gave us the perfect excuse to spend more time here, especially in the hot tub. We also had a stunning last day of sunshine to enjoy the beautiful view. This place leaves you feeling like you’ve really had a holiday (even with two young children). From the arrival fizz to Andrew’s attention on the hot tub, Katie showing us the brand new alpacas to Jills unending care on beds for the kids and generally and excellent recommendations of places to visit, we had such a nice time. We loved listening to the owl when we were in the hot tub and spotting other wildlife. We had willow lodge with an extra woodland bit on the end which we enjoyed playing hide and seek etc. plenty of space. It’s a great location for loads of visits to dartmoor, Exeter and beaches. Such a great set up. It’s all just easy which is important on holiday. Thank you all for a really memorable stay for all the right reasons. Xxxxx

We came here from a week at Cornwall & as we arrived in the site it was absolutely beautiful! There was signs to tell us where our lodge was & soon as we got to our lodge, Jill greeted us & showed us around our lodge & even made scones for our arrival which were absolutely delicious!! Also we had a bottle of bubbly in our fridge & a packet of Cadbury caramel buttons for our son! If you want a relaxing, peaceful, tranquil weekend then this is your place to stay! It was outstanding I couldn’t fault it one bit! The lodge itself was incredible & the hot tub was just the icing on top of the cake! Andrew & his kids took us to feed the alpacas & our son was loving it! He even smoothed one which was so friendly & loving! We will defo be returning here in the future without a doubt!!! We have recently returned from a few days away in one of these charming lodges. From the minute we arrived we relaxed and felt at home. Everything needed to make our stay comfortable was provided for us by Jill & Andrew. From the complimentary tea, coffee and chocolates to the plentiful supply of logs for the wood burner. Not to mention the homemade, freshly baked cream teas from Jill ! It truly was a delightful stay and we will definitely be back soon.
