La Chaumiere House

We ( five couples) were fortunate to able to stay in this beautiful guest house in Shillong for 3 nights. We could stay in this property because we knew the owners and the reservation etc was absolutely no problem. The location of the guest house is very central and at some what higher level than the Main Street. The property has total 8 large double rooms. The whole property and the rooms have maintained complete antique furnitures , decorations and landscaping in synch with the Shillong’s surrounding- in one word very beautiful. When we stayed, thankfully we were occupying the complete guest house and so we had complete privacy and the entire property was to ourselves. The living room area is very large and we could all sit there every evening together. To have morning tea sitting in the outside porch was simply bliss . We had some fantastic food during our stay and the guest house made special arrangements so that we are served those fresh and absolutely delicious food. I am not sure how to book this property as I am told one can not book online. But if you are visiting Shillong and want to stay in a special place, this is the one !

Miss Geeta , the manager is an absolute mean and disrespectful woman. My parents Mr & Mrs B Baruah have been going to Lachaumiere for the past 10 years. My parents are also known to the owners. The Sandilyas are wonderful ppl & have always made our stay memorable. After just a couple of conversations with Ms. Geeta I decided to cancel the booking. It was just such a stupid topic to be argumentative about and Ms Geeta not being at all understanding. Unfortunately she ruined my happy memories and love for Lachaumiere House. This too on Christmas Day when you atleast try to be nice to returning customers. I think the owners need to think about changing their manager to a more updated and hospitable manager.

Very good service... Enjoyed the stay and food 👍Room is very spacious and staff are very friendly and keep the room neat and clean. We stayed 4 days here we did not get bored... Outside the room the garden is very beautiful where the kids can play.
