Clean and comfortable stay. Rooms a modern with comfortable bedding and great showers. I slept like a baby! The gym has some cardio equipment and a solid set of dumbbells (and usually pretty quiet). If you go want a great workout, hit up Amarveer! He’ll put you through a great workout, he’s really knowledgeable and has great exercises to put variety in your session. Verdy, Mery, and Daphi at reception were wonderful and very helpful making sure we got the most out of our stay in Shillong.

The first hotel is relatively old, and the second hotel's supplies are relatively inferior. The view of the city is amazing, especially at night, when city is all lit up. Some rooms have a balcony with is spacious and beautiful. The entire property is well maintained. It definitely provides you a feel of the historic past it beholds. They have designated breakfast and dinner areas in the different wings making sure that guests don't miss out on the heritage and royalty. Orchids and pine trees enhance its beauty. The significance of the horse shoe shaped entrance, the historic importance of different blocks, old photographs take you down the memory lane. The hospitality and food are good. Staff is very courteous. Ambience is great.It lives upto its name.

I booked a room in this hotel through a reference but my experience was not good. My reasons are listed below. 1: The hotel ran out of water in the morning. This has never happened with since I habe started yravelling for business for the past 22 years. When you charge close to 4K, then you should ensure the basics like water supply and electricity. 2: I was also kept waiting for 45 minutes for black color water. I finally bought mineral water bottles for brushing etc. After a long wait they p4oduced a clean bucket full.of water. This entire experience pushed us 90 minutes behind schedule. 3: For breakfast we had to order rather than serve our selves . This service was extremely slow. This is not expected specially at 9am. The hotel should be prepared for serving guests at 7 am. 4: Check out process was slow. No wonder what will happen if there are 10 guests at a time. 5: The 2 stars are for the comfortable bed.

Orange Homestay is an excellent accommodation and is above Frank motors (Tata motors dealer). The rooms are spacious and very clean. The terrace is awesome as they have many flowering plants which are blooming. The food is also good but at times the wait time is more. The staff are very helpful and service oriented. They don't expect Tips. Very polite and well mannered. Breakfast options are limited but serving is generous and unlimited. There is only 1 chef and he arrives around 7 am. So the earliest you can expect the Breakfast is at 7:30 am. It would be either of Poori or Bhature or Aloo Paratha ***** with bread toast and bread sandwich. Whatever they cook is tasty. Coming to the drawbacks. 1) No lift. If you get room at 3rd floor then it will be difficult for elderly 2) The accommodation is on Laitmor/Mawblei main road which is always busy and very noisy. Sleeping in the night will be slightly difficult due to the vehicles making noise. 3) Very far away from Police bazaar. You need at least 1 hour by car to reach police bazaar though the distance is only 6 kms. Shillong traffic is pathetic. Taxi guys fleece you. It costed us 400 to come from Police Bazar to Orange homestay. There is no car parking as well at Police bazaar. So if you are keen to spend time on shopping then Orange homestay may not be the right place. We stayed in room 111 at 3rd floor and the room is massive in size. Very thoughtfully stocked with hot packs, geyser, Air conditioning which can also double up as heater, extra blankets etc.

The significance of the horse shoe shaped entrance, the historic importance of different blocks, old photographs take you down the memory lane. The hospitality and food are good. We were a group and we booked the suite. It is a huge room with 1 king bed, 1 queen bed and 1 single bed. 5 people can comfortably stay there and it also has 2 private balconies. The first night was terrible for us as in such a huge room there was just one small wall fan and hence we had to open the windows which resulted in a swarm of mosquitos coming in as it faces the lawn. As it is zostel, there was no service at night and the next morning we raised a complaint to the ***ager. He was the most helpful ***ager I have ever seen. He got everything done within hours and post that our stay was pleasant and so wonderful that we also extended for 2 more nights. The entire staff is very accomodating, good to talk to and soft spoken. The food at the restaurant is delicious and they also cater to individual needs. The only drawback is that they are extremely slow. If the cafe is full, do not expect your order to be served for an hour. Morning breakfast times, we would give the order, go to the room.. have a bath and get ready and still the order would not have been prepared.. Coffees and drinks are given in a jiffy.. But nevertheless, they also catered to serve us at late hours by keeping the food ready for us even after the restaurant shut down. Overall, it is a wonderful stay.. There are some hiccups (which all hostels have unless you opt for a 5 star hotel) but the best part is they listen to your grievances and act immediately. A big kudos to Santosh - without his help, we would have been in a terrible soup.. He definitely deserves a raise.. Thank You Santosh for everything!

I booked a room in this hotel through a reference but my experience was not good. My reasons are listed below. 1: The hotel ran out of water in the morning. This has never happened with since I habe started yravelling for business for the past 22 years. When you charge close to 4K, then you should ensure the basics like water supply and electricity. 2: I was also kept waiting for 45 minutes for black color water. I finally bought mineral water bottles for brushing etc. After a long wait they p4oduced a clean bucket full.of water. This entire experience pushed us 90 minutes behind schedule. 3: For breakfast we had to order rather than serve our selves . This service was extremely slow. This is not expected specially at 9am. The hotel should be prepared for serving guests at 7 am. 4: Check out process was slow. No wonder what will happen if there are 10 guests at a time. 5: The 2 stars are for the comfortable bed.
