We had an awesome stay at the Royal Retreat for 2 nights. It was a family outing with a mix group of 3 generations and everyone had a good time. Rooms were clean and spacious, food was delicious, location is close to the Lion's rock and most of all the service was superb. From reception to room service to the restaurant, all staff were so nice, polite and helpful. For us, the superstar was Pradeep, who is the housekeeping manager. From confirming our reservation at 10pm to arranging early check-in (even without our request) and accommodating our food preferences to arranging transportation, he made sure we had a perfect stay. Above all he went out of his way to get a customized cake for my cousin & his girlfriend with a couple of hours of notice. Thank you once again to the management and the staff at Royal Retreat, Sigiriya for making our stay extra special.

Very well established Hotel with very good staff, We found the real sri lankan hospitality from the time of my first call until the departure Two girls in the reception, restaurant staff including Security found very attentive, everyone speak with the real Sri Lankan warmth & smile. All credit goes to the staff. Room cleaning is ok but certain areas need attention such as kobwebs found in bathroom ceiling. Overall this is a nice Hotel & will be back for sure

We got to the property and did not have the upgraded rooms. Apparently they don’t read their emails or bookings from *******. We had to scramble to get just regular rooms. The actual rooms hardly anything worked including the locks, the safe, the bathtub did not work properly. It was quite a disappointment. Considering we thought we were getting an upgraded experience. I would not go there again.

We stayed at this hotel in July 2017. The rooms are great, the pool is clean, there are many great facilities, and our family had a great time. The lobby and rooms look great, but the hotel management is not very good. The breakfast is not good. The dinner options are limited, but the taste is still good. I suggest that the waiters should at least say hello when they see the guests. The night meal cost us $10 per person, and the hotel is very convenient to many places, close to restaurants, and the government canteen is only $1. The hotel staff is ok, but the room service needs to be improved.

(Note: Stayed here June 2018, the time period available is at max 1 year before present day.) Decent hotel/resort located in a sort of woody area. The rooms are adequate but paths could be better. Dinner was decent but as Indians the food served seemed weird, because they used different variety of rice here. Hotel was mostly empty due to off season. Overall can choose if you like adventure. Was given by travel agent to visit Trincomalee nearby so had no choice.

Lovely hôtel, large and clean rooms with a view on Sigiriya rock !! Fantastic location, close to many touristic places. Possibility of riding a bike in the paddy rice . Large pool to relax... we ll be back... Very helpful staff
