The sea is the worst in Cancun. Not only because of zargasos but also for rocks in the middle of it. It ruins the entire perception of cancun. A part from that “small detail” the staff was perfect, food and drinks good. We found a cucaracha under our bed... we were at las casitas.

The swim up suite was amazing. The beach was not good at all because of the rocks however the they made up for it by allowing you to go to a beach called Maroma Beach and it is beautiful. They allow you to also snorkel, go on a catamaran, and jet skis free of charge. A waiter named Alberto is the best you will ever find at the whole resort of Maroma Beach. He made our birthdays so special. Alberto had us special chairs and birthday cake. I would visit again just have Alberto be our waiter. There is a restaurant called Santa Fe and Gusto will take care of all your needs and remember your drink order exactly every time you return.

The resort is in decline compared to past experiences. We have been coming to EDR for 9 years and the last 3 years we have seen it declining to what is offered now. The butlers, cleaning staff, servers and drivers are all great to work with and the real reason we still come here. However the rooms are becoming dated, the restaurant list is dwindling away and the food has gone from amazing to barely satisfactory. For instance, Kick Grill used to have the most amazing wraps, now it doesn't offer anything that isn't bland tasting at best. Nachos, what the heck were you thinking removing nachos from all the menus. Do you not realize you are a resort in Mexico and that Americans expect to see nachos at a bare minimum? This was reported as the number one food ordered at the resort for years running, especially on the room service menu. for room service, there should be a pickup time for staff to return after meals are served. Maybe an hour or so after served, because guests do not want dirty plates and rotting food in their rooms. The only solution is to put it outside the room. When this is done the animals destroy the plates and create a huge mess everywhere. It needs addressed. The dressers and other furniture are starting to fall apart, show signs of severe wear and showing signs of mold. The lighting is still inadequate, but that has come to be expected. The pools are also showing wear and tear with tiles missing, cracked concrete borders everywhere and staining. I feel our gem in Mexico is deteriorating at a pace faster than the staff can maintain it with no solutions in the foreseeable future. JoJo's should have been rebuilt in the exact format it was. Trying to over-plan some exotic building that no one wants was a ridiculous idea. The pier was an icon of the resort and now that it is totally gone takes away something else that made EDR special. It has gone so far downhill that I am considering selling our Diamond Elite membership and that is really sad.

El Dorado Royale Casitas was a fabulous experience! We were at Casitas Pool 26 and Randy was absolutely amazing. He catered to our large group and provided us with great service. I know our group was not disappointed, it’s very important we acknowledge how hard working and personable Randy was. There are many restaurants to choose from and the staff overall is great. We can’t wait to come back for our next trip back to El Dorado.

This year, we decided to take our vacation with 11 of our closest friends to this resort. The experience was the most amazing we have ever had. I want to start with Melissa, Hugo, and Ruth. Melissa and Hugo were our butlers, but they didn't treat us like customers, they treated us like family! We wanted for NOTHING. The attentiveness of both of our butlers was like nothing I have ever experienced. These two messaged us first thing in their shift just to say good morning and ask how they could make our stay better! They decorated our rooms for one couples honeymoon and two of our birthdays. They don't get special recognition for this, they do it to give us special recognition that lets be honest... most of us don't deserve! These butlers make these trips special and need the recognition they deserve. We have been here multiple times and have had great butlers, but this duo is completely unstoppable! They not only attend to us but I've watched them help other guests who they have no responsibility for without hesitation or question. They treated them with the highest respect even knowing that at the end of the week(s) it wouldn't benefit them in any way. I have seen Melissa as a butler during multiple visits to the resort in the past and have always admired her strong presence, but having her as a butler made me realize that her and Hugo are the type of employees that keep this place going. And Ruth, our conciers is on point! If you need something and i mean ANYTHING that is your go to. She gets it done! She knows her guests and considers us friends. She has a passion for us like I have never seen! Ruth is so protective over the people she cares for that nothing will stop her from accomplishing her goals! The admiration that I have for how well she will fight for us goes beyond words! Alberts has been greating us with compassion and attentiveness for years!!!! He's the first thing we see when we arrive knowing that we are finally home!! For as long as I can remember, he has called us out by name as soon as he's seen us. You can't find that anywhere else! Then there is Lu (I believe that's the spelling of her name). This woman went out of her way to speak to us no matter where we were or what we were doing. She'd great us by name without looking at notes and would ask about guests we've visited with in the past (I'm talking about year ago). She's a front line worker that made our guests feel special. There was another gentleman (I think his name was Alex) who sat us at Cocotal's and Spot... he also made us feel like we were a part of his own family! Clemente!!! Everyone's favorite bartender! That man knew ALL of us by name and what we drank. He treated us like no other person existed at that swimup without neglecting others. Gabrielle made my birthday absolutely amazing. He coordinated with Hugo to give us a private experience on the beach. We again wanted for NOTHING!!! He went to multiple restaurants to get our drinks and meals. He deco

Our second time to El Dorado and we had an amazing trip. Randy at pool 26 bar gave fabulous service to our wedding group. The staff across the board was very friendly and accommodating.Randy made you feel like family! Alcohol and food you can have anywhere, so when an awesome staff embraces your family and friends, it makes the trip so much better.
