Hotel Villa Maria

The only negative experience we had was being charged for pool towel use and not being told prior that it would cost.

Being a hotel manager myself, the hotel is not up to a 4 star level. Starting from the positives,the hotel is on a great central location, very close to the beach,the marinas, all restaurants-shops & train bus stations. The reception team was lovely & the receptionist who checked us in (Terry) was very nice & provided us with the info needed (breakfast times, wifi code etc). The reception lobby was nice. The room was a double standard but very noisy as it was facing the street,the balcony was a Juliette balcony so you cannot use it to sit etc, the shower was the tiny & old,the minibar did not work at all (was not cooling) & when reported to the reception they did not offer to look at it.no iron or ironing board in the room, when we asked for it, we were told to pick it up from the reception and the iron had limescale on it so it was not usable (could stain our clothes. The cleaninless of the room was fair, however I could see that the floor was not hoovered or mopped during our stay. The breakfast was nice and had some traditional items, the service was good but many items were finished by 9:30 and were not replenished as the breakfast was ending at 10am. This is not right, the breakfast buffet must have enough offering until closing time. Also it is served indoors so for those who want a breakfast view, it’s not ideal. The pool was small but clean. The hotel amenities, service, offering & status of rooms reflect to a 3 star hotel and the price per night (€200 approx) is quite high for this type of hotel.

We stayed here for a special occasion but the overall experience we felt was lacking for a 4-star hotel. The food quality is good, however the service usually felt rushed due to the number of other guests when we stayed. We also felt that fresh fruit juice should be available at breakfast rather than just the squash/cordial options. The pluses for the room was that it was a reasonable size, the AC worked well and the bed was comfortable. However, we slept poorly due to it's location on a busy road and noise from other guests and so we think the sound proofing of rooms should be improved. Our shower did not drain well and on our penultimate day we did not get a full restocking of toiletries, which we thought was poor.

Excellent older style 3 star hotel in Sorrento, Italy. Comfortable bed, good air con in the room, friendly staff, good breakfast buffet, very good dinner in the restaurant. Nice pool and bar area. Excellent live music on Thursday nights. Overall very good value for money. Only downsides wifi a bit hit and miss and some drinks a little expensive.

Decor was unique. Lots of lovely areas to sit and relax

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The prices are very reasonable and a great buffet breakfast is provided daily for free. It’s a real breakfast too, with lots of options and warm choices. The location is super, many wonderful restaurants within walking distance and loads of shopping. I would absolutely stay here again.

Good location , room spotless , bed very comfortable and staff very nice , really friendly . Breakfast was good and dinner at night had some really nice choices . The only downside were incredibly rude people standing in the corridor talking very loudly every night after midnight and the constant slamming of doors . Using the room key you can close the door quietly but many people just slam the door soooo hard it dislodged a few fillings in my teeth . Obviously the hotel is not at fault for other peoples selfish behaviour so I will not include it in the star ratings . Villa Maria is a lovely clean and comfortable hotel with lovely staff....everything you would want in a holiday

This hotel had the worst customer service. Our luggage got stuck in our room because of their faulty lock. The hotel then blamed us for the issue because there was a towel on the inside door knob. However, the towel was never stuck in the door. I have never heard of a situation where a towel on the door knob causes the dead bolt lock to activate. The manager, Maria, was rude and unhelpful. She also refused to allow us to talk to anyone else. We waited over an hour for them to open our hotel room door so that we could get our luggage. We missed our connecting transportation due to their lock and delay and they did not even attempt to help us reschedule our transportation. The manager also tried to intimidate us and said that there was nothing we could do and she wouldn’t be compensating us. In addition, we paid for a full night and they told us we needed to leave the room prior to our check out time, as they needed to fix the lock for the next customer. Checkout is at 11 am and check in isn’t until 3 pm so they would have ample time to fix it. Honestly, there are so many wonderful hotels in Sorrento. Save yourself the trouble and don’t stay here!
