The ticket for the Langshan National Park allows entrance to attractions other than Bajiaozhai, such as Lajiaofeng and Tianyixiang, and is valid for 3 days, so it’s worth considering staying for a couple more days. Being able to converse in Chinese, even a little bit, is a good idea for smoother communication with the hosts. The room was clean and comfortable. Squat toilets seem to be the norm around here, but they provide special stools for those not used to it. Proximity to the Bajiaozhai Hunan entrance and cable car is also convenient. The food, made with fresh, local ingredients, was very good and served in generous portions. Hunan cuisine can be quite spicy, but you can request it to be prepared milder. The Langshan area is beautiful even when shrouded by cloud and mist, and I look forward to going back.
