I am very satisfied with my stay at Hostel Ilfaro.
I stayed here for 3 nights during July. You are only two min. away from the Kurume subway station and a food street just adjacent to the building.
You check in via their online portal when you walk in, and the reception hands you your card key for access to the women’s sleeping area. There are 4 floors. The women’s floor is on the 2nd floor. It has a dining / living room with small fridge, sofa and dining tables and chairs and a tv. You use your card key to get into the sleeping area where it also has a separate locker area, a separate washroom, toilet room, shower room and a laundry nook with a washer and dryer.
It was a nice surprise to have my own separate bed space with a tv, desk, chair and mirror. There is a folding door with a a small hook and ring to lock for privacy. You can hear everything bc there are no windows and the spaces are open at the top. But the 3 nights I was staying there, it was quiet and the bed was firm and comfy. I really appreciate the clean toilets and shower room. The only downside was the old carpet with stains and old musty smell that permeated the whole place. Also if you are a manga fan, they house gazillion manga books throughout the hostel.
It's a self-service hotel; check-in/out and breakfast are included.
This hotel is actually quite good, just not quite a great value. The location is near the station.
Although the rooms are a bit small, they're acceptable. Parking is conveniently located right next door. Meals on the bus are rice balls, which is also an option.
The hot springs are comfortable to soak in, the food is of good quality, and the rooms are OK, but the location is not very convenient, so you need to drive or take a taxi.
