11360173****Ryori-yaku (restaurant name), the hot springs in Hakone are unparalleled, but the food here really deserves mention. I've been to Ryori-yaku in Izu before, and compared to that, this one probably suits my taste better. It's not as sweet, so the food is refreshing and not cloying. The only downside is that the rooms are really small—every inch of space is precious!

2210963****I was pleasantly surprised!!! If you're looking for a truly authentic Japanese onsen resort experience, this is the perfect choice. First, the hotel is brand new, clean, and quiet, with a fresh Japanese-style decor. Every detail feels meticulously crafted. The moment I soaked in the hot springs, I felt Hakone truly was beautiful! Second, I've seen previous reviews mention transportation being inconvenient, but that's not the case! Most travel guides recommend buying the Hakone Two-Day Public Transport Pass for 5,000 yen per person, which grants unlimited use of eight public transportation options in Hakone. We followed a map and traveled from Hakone-Yumoto all the way to Touendai. From Touendai Platform 1, we took a 10-minute bus ride to Daigatake and arrived right there. It was incredibly convenient. Finally, we took the Odakyu Rapid Train from the station in front of the hotel to Gotemba. I recommend checking the train schedule the day before; it usually runs only once an hour. The trip takes about 40 minutes. You can use the public transport pass to get there for free. I highly recommend this hotel! P.S. There is a luggage delivery service at Hakone-Yumoto Station. Small items are 1,000 yen per piece and can be delivered directly to designated hotels within the Hakone area. This service is excellent.

GGuest UserThe buffet breakfast was plentiful, and the shuttle bus was convenient. A ********* lady enthusiastically helped us book a French dinner, which we really appreciated! Traveling is all about taking your time. If I could have breakfast at the hotel in the morning and then relax by the hotel's private lake in the afternoon, that would make for a perfect day!

GGuest UserThis was the best hotel I stayed at during my Chinese New Year trip to Japan, though it was also the most expensive. The hotel is right by the Hakone-Yumoto station exit, just across the little red bridge, which is incredibly convenient for families with luggage or young children. The hotel itself is comparable to a 4- to 5-star hotel in China. Both the service and facilities were excellent. They offer both private and public onsen baths. The private bath costs 2000 yen for 45 minutes, while the public one is free. We opted for the private bath. We arrived at the hotel at noon, dropped off our luggage, booked our private bath slot, and then went out to explore. The hotel even separates luggage storage for check-in and check-out, which is a nice touch. In the afternoon, you can explore the street in front of Hakone-Yumoto station, check out transportation options for the next day, and enjoy some local food. Of course, if you're short on time, you can also just drop your bags and hop on a train to start your journey. The room was also very spacious. We booked a triple room, and it was the biggest room I've stayed in during all my trips to Japan over the past few years. I must particularly mention that on our first afternoon, someone in our group was feeling unwell with a headache and vomiting. We approached the front desk before 2 PM, hoping to check in early and let them rest. The front desk staff were incredibly enthusiastic and processed our early check-in immediately. Another thing that happened was I realized I'd lost my wireless Bluetooth earphones after returning to Tokyo, and I suspected they might have been left at the hotel. Since I didn't have a phone number, I contacted the hotel via email. The very next day, hotel customer service replied. They not only looked for them in our room but also searched in the hotel's public areas. Although they weren't found, I was still very satisfied with the service of the Japanese hotel staff. I would definitely choose this hotel again for my next trip to Hakone. Also, a tip for everyone: this area perfectly combines liveliness and tranquility. Other places, in my opinion, are either too far (requiring long train rides) or too desolate.

TThe Lost Forest MumWe visited Hakone Kuori-tei (仙石原久の葉 / Sengokuhara Hisanoha) on 19 November 2025 and stayed for 2 nights while exploring Hakone. Located in the peaceful Sengokuhara area, the ryokan offers a quiet and relaxing escape surrounded by nature. With only 8 rooms, the ryokan feels private, cosy, and calm. We stayed on the 2nd floor in Room 205, which had good space to comfortably accommodate 2 adults with 24-inch luggage. Every morning, we enjoyed a beautiful shimmering view of the autumn leaves, glowing under the morning sunlight — a perfect start to the day. Do note that the 2nd floor has no lift, only staircases. However, the staff were very helpful and assisted with carrying our luggage, which we truly appreciated. Our room had a simple bathroom without a shower, but the ryokan’s onsen on Level -1 was clean, soothing, and perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast and dinner were included, and dinner offered a choice of shabu-shabu or sukiyaki. We tried both and loved them — tender meat, fresh vegetables, and delicious, comforting flavours. One of the most special highlights is the free-flow drink station with: • ☕ Coffee • 🍺 Craft beer • 🍶 Sake • 🥃 Highball • 🍷 Umeshu(梅酒) • 🧃 Orange & apple juices • 🥤 Soft drinks Guests can bring drinks back to their room, making evenings extra cosy. Parking is designated for ryokan guests, and there are plenty of parking spaces, making arrival and departure smooth. The staff were warm, polite, and attentive — adding to the peaceful atmosphere of the entire stay.

GGuest UserWe booked the one-night, two-meal package. For dinner, we chose the Japanese kaiseki, but it was quite ordinary; I almost fell asleep eating it for an hour. The only thing truly delicious was the sashimi. However, the French breakfast the next morning was highly recommended, especially the croissants – they were excellent. The restaurant also offers a kids' menu, which our 2-year-old loved. The hotel's souvenir shop is great, perfect for gifts, and they even provide extra hotel bags. When we checked in, they might have seen our baby and gave us the best room type on the third floor, which was really nice. The hotel's shuttle service was superb. We wanted to buy milk for the baby, but the hotel couldn't provide it. The nearest convenience store was in Hakone-motohakone. The hotel proactively offered to have a driver take us there to buy it in the evening, which was incredibly thoughtful and customer-friendly. Their spa has won awards, but I found out too late. When I tried to book, I wasn't successful. The person who answered the phone for spa bookings couldn't speak English and told me to go up directly to book. However, when I got there, there was no one, and the door was closed. I hope the hotel can improve this aspect. Regarding the shuttle bus back to Hakone-Yumoto, I read reviews saying you need to book a day in advance, but that's not true; you can book on the same day. Many people say the transportation here is inconvenient, but I actually found it perfectly fine because of the business shuttle service. On the first afternoon, I recommend taking the pirate ship down to the hotel. Then, on the second morning, take the shuttle to Hakone-motohakone, where the Narukawa Art Museum is directly opposite. Going early means you completely avoid the crowds. I will definitely stay here again next time to properly experience the hotel's afternoon tea and spa. I also heard the garden is beautiful but didn't have time to fully explore it this time, so I'll save that for my next visit.

GGuest UserYama No Chaya has its own beauty and serenity. I personally don’t find it hard to locate - 2 bus stops away from Hakone Yumoto station + a 5 minutes walk are worth the stay. (Bus service stopped for one of the days due to bad weather and we walked for 20 minutes to Hakone Yumoto Station - all good) The team is very hospitable - they also have some English and Chinese speaking staff otherwise simple English is not an issue to communicate. Our butler - Sandip always carry a smile with him, and he ensured we are very well taken care of. Every morning, the team will prepare heat pack and umbrellas for us (it was raining and snowing). In the evening, they made tea and prepared snacks (vary from mochi to sushi) for us upon our returned. The room we booked is Yamano Ichigo (main wing) - just nice for 2. The viewing platform was where we relaxed every evening and we soaked our tiredness away in our very own private onsen at the basement. Despite of having our own private onsen, I still went to visit 3 other public onsen within the Ryokan - you will not be disappointed. Our room came with daily breakfast and we added on dinner for 1 night. I must say the chef and culinary team put in their passion and effort to prepare all the dishes. It’s not common for a visitor like me to taste Kaisekai cuisine which I enjoyed very much. You need to take time and an empty stomach to full experience it :) However, my partner and I weren’t used to heavy breakfast and our butler noticed it - we get to change to western style for the rest of the stay which was equally delicious. We are thankful that we minimised food wastage. Overall, we felt pampered during our stay at Yama no Chaya :) I will return again in the future when I visit Hakone.

GGuest UserVery nice (and spacious - by tokyo standards) hotel!! We had a balcony view of the mountain and the golf course. I didn't read the description and was pleasantly surprised that there was an onsen (must pay 150 yen usage fee per person). It was a really nice onsen too. It was raining the day that we got there and it made the outdoor onsen just magical with the rain in the backdrop. However, they do not allow tattooed guests into the onsen so foreigners, please be aware. The room was nice and gave old timey feels. I appreciated the big, long couch too. One drawback was that there was no microwave in the whole building :( But overall, would come back. It's a 10 minute walk from the T Tozan bus (so you can get there pretty quickly from the Togendai bus/ropeway station. The Lawson is right there next to the bus stop too (we got to go while the Evangelion collab was going on). The hotel has a free shuttle bus to various locations too so I would inquire about those upon check-in since those have to be booked the day before, but if you have the Hakone free pass and don't mind walking, it's pretty accessible via the Tozan bus lines

GGuest UserWe only stayed for one night.  This hotel is also used as a 1-day onsen for public so it was quite busy with a lot of people in the public areas and at the onsens.  The room was slightly smaller than expected.  The buffet breakfast and dinner were ok but nothing spectacular.  The area outside the hotel was very picturesque though, and it's only a 10-15 min walk to the nearest station and you will pass all the souvenir shops and little eateries on the way so it's quite nice.
