Hotels near Chang Dai-Ch'ien Residence, Taipei

The room is comfortable. Clean. Although the room is not modern and novel, the equipment is complete. The price is reasonable. Although no breakfast is provided, there is breakfast available at 30 meters. It is also very convenient to Qingguang business district.

For the price and location it's a good hostel. The staff are friendly and helpful for the most part. My main complaint is that the shower areas are really hot, so you start to sweat as soon as you've showered. I think the hostel is a bit on the quiet side in the communal areas, but apparently all hostels in Taiwan are like that. Additionally, something I really appreciated about this hostel is they messaged me asking if I would arrive after 9 pm. Because I was going to, they left my key card in the lock boxes by the entrance, so I didn't have to pay the out-of-hours reception fee. If you will arrive after 9 pm, just let them know and they can sort this out for you.

Pretty average hotel stay experience. Average pricing, average service. The only down side was our room had the emergency exit sign that was so bright at night we had to close it behind the curtain… but we generally prefers to have the curtain open to allow sunlight in the morning… so that was unfortunate.

Stayed at the Standard Double Room (2 adults). Overall, room was decent was fairly clean (we’re very particular with cleanliness and hygiene), staff was very nice & accommodating, cleaned our rooms when asked to, had the basic amenities, a lounge, and freebies, ie coffee capsule, softdrinks, water, tea, biscuit, gummy bears. Best things about this hotel are that it’s close to transportation, i.e. MRT, bus stops, convenience stores, like 7/11, Family Mart, where you can buy your “easy card” & even top up there, cafes, tea drinks, bars, restaurants, nice clothes shops. It would have been nice if the room were much cleaner, i.e. the corners were a little dusty (again this is coming from someone who’s very very particular about cleanliness) but all in all, had a good stay & would highly recommend! Very good deal and worth it too!

Hotel is located in walking distance from the main station , everything can be reached within short time . The staff itself is friendly and attentive , the rooms clean.

Location was excellent, very near train, bus and airport express. Surrounding has a lot of food to select from, best is 7-11 and family mart is just round the corner.

We had a pleasant stay with Hotel Papa Whale, the building is not as new as the photos, but it's clean inside. The room was also clean and the staff were nice. They always restock what you use with the toiletries. I just wish they would change their food a little at the buffet. It was delicious but a bit tiring if you eat the same everyday. Overall, we had a good time. The location was also convenient. Close to everything. :)

The Fullerton gets a bad wrap on a lot of these reviews. It's both good and bad. I'm a frequent business traveller to Taiwan and have stayed in probably 30 different hotels so I speak with some experience. The Fullerton has a lovely downstairs area with free coffee - proper coffee from a proper machine which is even better than the coffee at breakfast. This is great. As a business traveller, it also gives me a nice relaxing place to work, and I don't need to walk around to find a coffee shop / bring coffee back. Staff are also very polite. The hotel, like many in Taipei is outdated and a bit old - but most here are like that sadly from my experience. My room was a bit dark and smelled a bit musty - but was generally very clean. The window glass had some crap between the layers though and I'd prefer a window I can open even if just a little. Bathroom was very clean as was the bed - which, let's face it, is the most essential. After travelling south for a night, I came back to Taipei and then booked the Miramar Garden hotel for the same price. This hotel is 10x better for the price range. I have an elite business room on a top floor and free hotel lounge access with free coffee, beer, drinks, snacks, along with other facilities like the pool. For the price range, it is far better value for money. Fullerton isn't terrible though.

We booked the city view room, but honestly, the view was a bit disappointing. Maybe it's because we were only on the 2nd floor. But otherwise everything else was fine and the staff were really helpful. Breakfast was packed with a variety of food, none suited my taste but that's more of a me problem. Definitely recommend going a bit early as it tends to get more crowded later on for breakfast.

I chose this hotel with a reasonable price and the swimming pool. The staffs were very kind and helpful. There’s one nearby night market and the famous Longshan temple with 5minute walking distance. The overall area doesn’t seem so nice but close to the central areas and taking uber was very convenient. A decent size swimming pool was quite nice. There’s a water fountain but no bottled water provided. The convenient store is right next to the hotel though.
