We arrived to our room at 3am after long day of weather delays in Chicago. Attempting to find out when we could check in by, we had multiple times we were told by three different people. The elevator had an unpleasant odor, which we attributed to the stick down floor panels and humidity causing some sort of bacteria/mold. When we opened the door, the strong smell of wet cat/ cat urine, which was localized to the closet. One of the bed mattresses was concaved in the middle and the top cover sheet had stains on it, near the foot of the bed. Upon doing more research, it was found the mattress was made in 1998. The bathroom area had hair around the edges, under the toilet, and there was even hair in a folded towel. The heating/cooling unit in the room vibrated so much it set itself warmer when the dial was placed in the middle, which made sleeping a bit of a mess. We ended up purchasing air freshener from a nearby store to attempt to clear the air the next morning, which had little success.
The one positive about the place was the night attendant. The same gentleman was very friendly and helpful when we checked in and out and deserves consideration when it comes to someone advancing.
Also, the French Market is way more than an eight minute walk as advertised. The walk to the water ferry alone is 4.5 miles from the location.
