Where do I begin? WOW!! This place is absolutely AMAZING!! After spending five nights in Honolulu we arrived in Kona at the Fairmont Orchid for another five nights. We had a major setback at the property we stayed at in Honolulu and when we arrived in Kona we were hoping for the typical great experience we normally receive on our vacations. Fairmont Orchid delivered!! We stayed in an ocean view king bed room 1254. Our room was beautiful. We had a gorgeous view of the ocean and overlooked Brown’s. All the staff was pleasant and helpful. We had daily room cleaning and turndowns. Our room was well taken care of by the friendly housekeeping staff. Join the Accor club. It is free to join. Each member of your party can join separately. There is a booth in the adult only section of the pool to scan a QR code. When you join you obtain a free spirit or beverage of choice, free use of the bicycles to use during your stay, points for your stay, and other benefits. It’s hassle free and FREE. It took less than five minutes to sign up, receive info, and our free drink card. My hubby and I went to visit Kaloko Honokohau National park to view sea turtles. It’s approx. 30 minutes away from the hotel. We spoke to a park ranger about the park and he inquired where we were staying. His words,”You’re staying at one of the best properties in Kona, what are you doing here?” He informed us that we have a great beach and would more than likely view sea turtles at the beach. We actually did see several sea turtles in the crystal clear water at this park and there were several that you could view right off the shore. We did not go into the water and were able to see many of them at the Kaloko park. We were going to visit Hāpuna beach but decided against it and glad we did d/t the fees and other guest said they did not go in at Hapuna because the waves were choppy. It very well could have just been the day they visited. The Fairmont Orchid has an AWESOME beach and great snorkeling. I saw sea turtles four out of six days we were at Fairmont. The small bay keeps the waves almost non-existent. There are many fish and sea turtles that come into the bay. I did go out into the ocean daily to snorkel and saw so many additional beautiful fish, coral reef, and turtles. It was the best of both worlds and we never looked for another beach! Do not forget a water proof phone case or go pro! The pool has an adult only portion as well as a pool seating area for adults only. There is an off the beaten path hot tub that we regularly enjoyed. We inquired at Brown’s Deli about breakfast sandwiches and they informed us that they could cater to our dietary needs. Just come in the before they close the day prior and put our order in and they would have our food for the next day. This came in handy for us when we went on our day long excursions. We are gluten free. My husband is dairy free as well. They were able to make our breakfast sandwiches and w
