I feel that this hotel is very cost-effective and suitable.
Old Penang Hotel - Trang Road

Dirty walls, dirty mirrors in the shared bathroom, overall dirty. There are some kind of slippers, it’s unclear why and who wore them. Room 2x2, I went in and immediately lay down, there was nowhere to put my things, I had to make my way through the bags to the bed. Wifi is not working at all, it doesn’t work either in the room or downstairs, you can connect to a non-working Wi-Fi for 20 minutes, it’s also very slow, if you do manage to connect. They periodically close the doors to the entrance, you go for a walk, the door is closed, you stand there waiting for the bell to be heard and opened, and this is during the daytime. The logic is not clear from the word at all, there is no blanket, some kind of rag was put in, if you are looking for a minimum cost, then you can endure it, but I don’t recommend going there for a long time, you can get a depressive disorder One major plus = LOCATION

The room is very clean! The restaurant downstairs is good! There are so many places to eat around! Please note that you need to add the hotel WhatsApp to get the check-in code, and the rooms are locked with a code
Super 8 Hotel @ Georgetown
3.9/585 Reviews
The location is quite strategic as it is very near to the shopping malls like Komtar, 1st Avenue and Gama. The room is spacious and comfy. The only complaint would be the lack of street lamps in the area at night which would discourage any adventurous guests to venture out on foot to the nearby shopping malls at night.
Tido Hostel Penang
4/529 Reviews
This will be my first time experience stayed in Tido Penang Hostel and really like it. The room is quite cosy and comfortable. Each person got one big locker space with key, pillow and mattress, reading light, a plug, blanket and towel. Free WiFi at all floors and in dorm room too. The hostel consist of 5 floors, 1st to 4th floor comes with 5 rooms & 5 individual bathroom & WC. The lounge on 5th floor was big and had great 2 swinging egg chairs and plenty of space over looking the view of the city. There was also a computer if you need to use one. Every floor has a iron and board. The 5th floor comes with books/magazine cupboard, table bench & high chair, soft sofa, a fridge, refillable hot/cold water filter and a small kitchenette. Free breakfast is at 5th floor overlooking the city in the morning that comes with self service toast, 4 types of spread, biscuits, coffee, tea & filtered water. Every shared bathroom is clean and comes with rain shower hot/cold pressure power and shampoo/body wash. The 8 bedded bunk room is clean and spacious and look exactly the same in the booking website. Open air parking is next to Caltex petrol station. All in all, for a price that am paying, I am happy with my stay and highly recommending and suggested this place for those who want to explore Georgetown The service overall was excellent and the facility was fabulous. The location was in a quiet area and very convenient for eating out. Highly recommend Tido.. :)
