Hotel New Otani Tokyo, Executive House Zen Reviews

The breakfast was very rich. I checked in on the 11th floor and the staff were very polite. The hotel occupies a large area, with three buildings connected together. It is very convenient to find food on Akasaka Street after leaving. The only drawback is that the bottled water in the room is a bit small. But you can add it for free.

Everyone from the people in charge of the check-in lounge to the room attendants were very kind. Also, thank you for your consideration as it was my birthday. thank you very much.

From check-in to check-out, I was able to spend comfortably. I was given a nice surprise on the way home from the information I shared in a small conversation with the staff. If I had to say it, I would appreciate it if the lounge was open a little later than usual lol It was a lovely stay.

Lovely traditional hotel - very Japanese and elegant. Wonderful service. Complimentary food and cocktails in the club lounge. This was the perfect hotel for us as we did not want to stay in a global chain hotel. We wanted something authentic and Japanese. We could not have been more pleased with the ambience and service.

I originally was hesitant on booking Executive House Zen because it seems more remote than where I usually stay. I was surprised how accessible it is by taxi that for just a short ride I can reach anywhere worth visiting in Tokyo. Our room decor was Zen, albeit smaller than what I’m used to because the rooms were fully booked and there was no room for upgrades, but the staff at the executive lounge made up for the room’s shortcomings and more. I want to thank Mr. Motoshi for assisting us finding a very rare toy for my daughter that is not available in the U.S. and had it delivered to our room, and thank Wu and Daniel, who provided exceptional service and gave great suggestions on places to dine. We were very impressed by the level of service provided. We dined at several restaurants within the hotel, including daily breakfast at Satuki, and drinks and snacks in the Executive Lounge ~ all were very good. I highly recommend Executive House Zen and thank everyone at Hotel New Ontani for such a memorable experience.

It's important to understand that the "Executive House Zen" are two executive floors (11th and 12th) in the New Otani Hotel, which opened in 1964 and has been refurbished a bit more than 10 years ago. While there is a dedicated check-in area (or you just go up to the lounge, where they can check you in as well), everything else is shared with the rather large 5* and attached 4* hotel. The hotel has no direct access to subways, but stations can be reached by just a few minutes on foot. Our King room was large enough (separate sitting area and a large table) and nicely designed with very functional layout, it does not offer as much space as recently built hotels. Worth to mentioned that soft drinks are included in the rate and daily replenished. While I visit Japan regularly over the last 25 years, it still puzzles me that the concept of having a decent after dinner cocktail combined with a view is unheard of in traditional upscale hotels: the sky bar closes at 9 p.m. (last order 30 minutes before), so does the splendid Zen lounge, which is worth visiting. The only place left open is the windowless lobby bar. It's really a pity having to go to another, more modern hotel's bar to get a glimpse of Tokyo's impressive nighttime skyline after dinner. That said, I can recommend the Zen as a luxurious base to explore Tokyo!

Beautiful hotel with amazing 5 star amenities. We loved the lounge for breakfast, snacks and evening drinks. Location is near subway and taxis are always available. The lounge staff were incredibly kind and helpful. We will return to the New Otani Zen. Room was large and bed was very comfortable.

Amazing hotel, staff is great, specially in the Club Lounge and valet. The rooms are big, everything is in great condition, decoration, amenities, bed, shower, everything is great. Breakfast at the lounge is very convenient, quiet and peaceful a great way to start your day, great location and having taxis available 24/7 at the hotel helps. Would recommend and would stay here next time I come to Tokyo

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will be recommending the New Otani to friends and family. The staff in the Zen Lounge could not have been more helpful from start to finish. We booked three rooms and one room was upgraded. This made all of the difference to our stay. The room was spectacular!! The garden was beautiful and the restaurants/ shops in the hotel were very good. The hotel is in a great location with easy access to the Tokyo train stations. I would recommend all of the staff we came across during our stay. They were all superb, so polite and nothing too much trouble. We loved our stay at the New Otani.

We wished we had more time at this fantastic hotel within a hotel! We were upgraded upon arrival to a huge suite, room 1140. There were 2 separate rooms, 2 bathrooms, so much space it was crazy! The bed was tremendous, we think it was bigger than a king, and very comfortable. Tons of towels, robes, great amenities, and a lovely view. It was immaculate and quiet. We utilized the "free" food and drinks in the lounge on the 11th floor a couple of times. The gardens were very pretty, we took some pictures there. We asked the concierge on the 11th floor for help with dinner reservations. We wanted to try sukiyaki. They got us in to the hotel's restaurant, Okahan, and it was the best meal of our trip to Japan! We had to leave early in the morning for the airport, so we ordered a room service breakfast. It was perfect and delivered right on time. My one and only criticism of the hotel would be that the decor is slightly dated. However, I highly, highly recommend the hotel! In addition, it should be noted that all of the staff was superb.
