Barclay Cottage B&B

The hosts were awesome 🤩. So enjoyed the conversations and visit. The house has a wonderful ambiance. The touches of a shell 🐚 for a spoon holder were so special. Breakfast there was so well thought out ~ courses that really made the stay perfect.

Rich and Sharon define what we believe to be true Southern hospitality. The delectable breakfasts were a reflection of their love for what they do. The cozy inn is off the beaten VB path and a wonderful retreat. We walked everywhere after over indulging in the fabulous home made breakfasts and restaurants. We can't say enough about how wonderful the Barclay is! Thank you, Rich and Sharon!

Loved my time spent at the Barclay B&B during a quick weekend get-away and will definitely go back next year. The bikes for boardwalk riding was a favorite activity, but the gourmet breakfasts each morning was a highlight and amazing start to each day. Very convenient to the beach, shopping, restaurants, everything you want at the beach. The hosts are so kind and easy to talk to, I felt welcome and so at peace I didn't want to leave. Highly recommend this B&B for an amazing experience.

Great Time at Barclay!!!The hosts are amazing .The breakfasts were gourmet and delicious .We celebrated our anniversary and the chocolate covered strawberries were the BEST I have ever eaten.Have a GREAT SUMMER BARCLAY COTTAGE＞We shall return!!!!

Rich and his wife Sharon were wonderful hosts. The home, built is the 1800's is lovely and accommodating. We felt right at home and would certainly stay at the Barclay Cottage again. I cant forget t mention how amazing the breakfasts that Rich cooked each morning were!!! He takes great pride in his preparation and presentation. It definitely gets 5 star rating from us. If your ever needing a place to stay with warmth, charm, wonderful hosts....then this is place you need to be!!! Greg and Melissa Patterson

We’re fairly jaded travelers and it takes something special to impress us. Well, we were pleasantly surprised by the warm and inviting hosts at Barclay Cottage and the genuinely relaxing atmosphere. Sharon and Rich have added the small details that make a B&B stay unique and that set it apart from an impersonal hotel. Tastefully decorated rooms, a comfortable bed, clean linens, thoughtful amenities, and little touches that clearly show the experience of the proprietors. Breakfast was a real treat and something you should not miss! This was an off-season trip, unfortunately, so the beach was quiet and we could only spend a short time on the balcony. We would definitely like to return in the spring to see the gardens in bloom and enjoy the ocean breeze. Highly recommended for a romantic getaway or relaxing stay near the beach during whale watching season. Although I’m sure the area is loud and bustling in the summer, Barclay Cottage is an oasis that you look forward to returning to and hate to leave. Needless to say, this was a fantastic B&B experience thanks in no small part to the care and kindness of our hosts. Rich and Sharon really make you feel welcomed and like family, genuine and lovely people who are also excellent innkeepers. Highly, highly recommended!

This is a hidden gem in Virginia Beach. The house is adorable and the rooms are so comfortable. They have everything you need for a day at the beach (chairs, umbrellas, bikes etc). We had cold water and ice available plus we had access to coffee and/or tea all day. This was our first stay at a bed and breakfast and we were blown away. The food was delicious and precisely prepared each morning. Rich and Sharon are lovely hosts. They are full of historical knowledge of the area and love to make recommendations. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Sharon and Rich are a gracious and welcoming couple. Terrific amenities with cruiser bikes, beach chairs and towels. Room was very comfortable and enjoyed sitting front porch! Breakfasts were creative and delicious. Thanks for your hospitality! Paula and Rick.
