My husband is disabled and when asked if he had any special requirements, when booking, he said he was disabled. So they accepted the booking and took the money (for 2 nights) On arrival we given a 2nd floor room which was fine until we were told the lift wasn't working. My poor husband had to literally drag himself up 2 floors and I had to drag the luggage (we have a lot because of my husband's disabilities) I am very grateful to the young men who helped me when I almost fell backwards down the stairs and they took the luggage for us but there was no offer of help from staff! When I asked if there was a ground floor room I was told no. I asked how long the lift had been out of order and I was told ”For a long time.” When I said they shouldn't have taken our money knowing about my husband and the lift the receptionist said there would be a room on the ground floor today (the 2nd day) but not until 12 o'clock. We will be out but we will see what happens when we get back later today. The 1 star rating is for the clean room. Nowhere for breakfast, they've stopped that!!! 😤

We travelled up on Sunday and stayed until Tuesday.I booked 2 rooms for me and hubby, daughter and her boyfriend. Car park outside with discount code -£4.10 for 24 hours . Decent size car park and safe, just yards from hotel . Staff on reception exceptional . Cheerful, polite and helpful . One young lady who was working on the Monday morning (9th Sept about 8am), went above and beyond by helping my daughter (who was graduating that day and running late) in a “lady” crisis and did so with such empathy and provided what was needed from her own supply, but did so with discretion. Cannot thank this young woman enough and I forget her name. We were all rushing and stressed but I want to thank her for being so human that morning xxx I hope she somehow reads this and that her superiors acknowledge how she went above and beyond. Room very clean and pleasant . We stayed on 5th floor with view over canal . Some major buildings work going on lots of scaffolding, work started 9am and would stop by 6pm. This appears to be essential works and looks like recladding so given its importance, especially with fire protection we didn’t let it affect our rating . I asked for a high room on the booking and at the end of corridor due to less noise from other guests, and they gave me that . The restaurant was great and attached to the hotel , nice food and daily specials from 12-6, 2 meals for £10.99. Good sized portions. Great breakfast, nice restaurant staff. Polite and friendly. Faultless . Again shout out to the young lady on reception who saved the day on my daughter’s graduation morning of Monday 9th September. I hope you see this ❤️

Excellent hotel facilities and friendly staff. Downside was uncomfortable bed settee for our 12 year old son, hard pillows, windows you couldn’t open fully and automated check in system.

Lovely stay. Fantastic value. Breakfast exceptional. Staff helpful and friendly. Don't be put off by the outside as the inside was bright and clean. Have stayed before and will definitely stay again. Big private car park. On local bus route. Lift wasn't working and had quite a walk to our room, so check if it's something you will need. Lovely large bedroom decorated in nice colours. Lots of plugs. Wasn't a hair dryer but had taken one with me. Very comfortable king-size bed. Adequate hospitality tray. All in all, fab.
